Hi there,

Can anyone tell me what it would entail if I joined the reserve corps? What exactly is the time commitment, etc.? Can you hold a non-nursing job and still be in the reserve corps? Thanks so much!

Hello janice15:

Duty-Honor-Country

First I would suggest you do a search on this forum....TONS and tons of information regarding RC...

That being said I would also suggest going to your local Health Care Recruiter and they should have lots of reading material on the RC.

If you are considering the Army Nurse Corps, Reserves you must first meet with a Health Care Recruiter. [To be an Officer in the RC you must have your Associates in Nursing] Obtain the information, start filling out the application (long process)

If being considered you will have an extensive background security check which includes your finances, your general background, your educational background.....

Think about what your reasonings are for being in the Armed Services. What are you willing to give and what do you think you would like to "get out of it" "it" being the ARNC.

Yes you can hold a non-nursing job and be in the Reserve Corps....but if you want to be in the Army Nurse Corps you must have some experience as a Nurse also the # of years of recent nursing experience will count toward your grade or rank if and when you take the Oath (DA71)

As for the Oath: Think about what that entails.

There are so many other more knowledgeable people on this forum, but I strongly suggest you first attempt a search

Good luck to you

Just a side note to above. You can work in a non nurse job but you must keep your license active and unrestricted.
