NCP, Navy Nurse, Marine Reserve Husband

I'm considering the NCP program and I just started my BSN program. I graduate in 2 yrs. My husband is in the Marine Reserves for a minimum of 2 years and his duty station is in NY. We currently live in MD. I am trying to see what are the chances that I will be stationed close to MD upon graduating. Being in the Marines for 11 years my husband understands that I do not get to choose where I will be stationed however, I do not want to be too far away from him. It's hard for me not to be selfish and consider his career and time he has put into serving our country. I'm just wondering is there a balance to it. :( Any help will be appreciated. I really have to decide what I will do to pay for school. I have 36k in federal loans and still will need about a significant amount to pay for the ABSN program. Thank you all

Hi, I may have an answer for you... first of all make sure you contact your local recruiter to make sure you can STILL APPLY, the application process for the Navy NCP program projects up to 2 years in the future!! meaning that unless you graduate in 2017, there aren't any openings. Part #2, yes, you can get relocated with your husband, you would be considered dual military family. Most likely since he is a Marine there are usually Clinics or Hospitals near or on their bases staffed by Navy Nurses... hope it helps!

I'm confused because when I spoke to a recruiter they said unless I was already in a nursing program with 2 years left I couldn't apply and if NCP is set 2 years in future how does one even apply??

he was correct! that means that we are starting to take applications for people who will graduate in 2017 (because) 2015 starts for the Navy in October 2014. So, October 1st starts fiscal year 2015 (2 years prior to 2017), hope it helps... if you graduate 2016 may, we should have met today 1 year ago.

Okay that's odd then I wonder why he is saying that I am fine to apply?
