I happened to apply for a position and even though their on a freeze in my area I was selected and going through the process.

The position is 8 hours shift compared to my 12 I am used to.

I currently am getting my masters in mental health NP.

36 yr old.

I am trying to figure out why everyone says "DO IT". I see the benefits and I hear four sides of a two sided coin.

HELP ME understand why I should be as happy as everyone else is for me!

Specializes in EMT, ER, Homehealth, OR.

That was how my LES was listed when I worked at the VA.

I decided that I am going to go for it. I like working for the vets, it will be a change from 12's to 8's (out patient), but I think in the long run it will be better for myself and my family.

Am I happy where I am at? no

is the VA perfect? no

Will i drop them as an NP? unknown since I've seen very little in my specialty on usajobs.

Who knows 20 years sounds pretty sane compared to working places where sanity is determined on employer monetary situation. I was impressed at the hospital, yet I did run into a lot of people taking issue with the out process. I'd like to stay at one place, and if the hourly/salary is where it will be I think it will be a lateral maneuver for myself.
