Do government/military hospitals emphasize customer service?

I am a military wife working at a civilian hospital at the moment, but am interested in moving to a military hospital at some point. We have a great new one being built in our area (Ft. Belvoir) and I'm really curious about it.

What drives me absolutely bonkers about my current hospital is the crazy Press-Ganey type customer service programs and how we have to continously strive for "perfect' ratings. Does this go on in the government/military hospitals?

Also, if anyone has any info on the new Ft. Belvoir Dewitt Hospital, please chime in. Thanks!

No info but I do have a comment - I recently stayed at Ft Belvoir (my mom is a retiree dependent) and I was very impressed with that base. I think it's the nicest Army base I've ever been on. All of the people were very nice and very helpful. And that new hospital looks fantastic; I'd love to work there myself but I'm going Air Force.

We (meaning my hospital) don't use Press-Ganey surveys but we still emphasize excellent customer service. In my hospital we utilize voluntary surveys that are unit-specific as well as the ICE system which is an online survey that focuses on services rendered/received. ICE is used throughout the DoD but to date I have never heard any feedback from my management as to how well my unit does on these surveys. What I do hear about is the feedback that is given on our voluntary, unit-specific surveys. At any rate, I would say that military hospitals are no different from civilian in that we always strive for perfection. We may not use the Press-Ganey, but our performance is still being measured.

I wanted to chime in and concur that Belvoir is gorgeous. Once I hit AD, God willing, that post is going to the top of my wish list
