College Acreditation for ADN program

I am an critical care RN working on a burn unit and would love to join the Army Reserve. However, this has proven to be a very long, difficult, and frustrating process for me. I have done my own research however, and have been told that with my ADN and my current enrollment in an BSN program I can join. However, I was told by another military member that the college I attend must be acreditated by the military and currently the college where I recieved my ADN is not. Is it still possible for me to join with my ADN or do I need to wait until my BSN is complete??? Also, are there any programs that would allow me to join as and RN who is a BSN student?

Thanks I am truly frustrated.

The College you graduate from does not need to be accreditated by the Military, its needs to accreditated by NLN or CCNE(the latest and greatest version), and then the military will recognize it. For the Army you can join the Reserves with an ADN and will not be able to promote past the Captain level. For anything further than a Captain or if you ever decide to go active duty you need your BSN. The Air Force and Navy require a BSN for both reserve and active status.

As far as the tuition reimbursement programs I haven't looked into those, but there are plenty of previous posts that detail the pro's/con's.

The army and navy both have nurse candidate programs you can join as a junior or senior in your BSN program.

You can get started a bit early if you have your BSN acceptance letter..

both programs provide a monthly stipend upon acceptance and your obligation to serve upon graduation.. neither require any monthly or summer drills or service.

Well, I did a lot of research and the final word is that the college you graduate from with your ADN must be certified by the NLN at the time you graduate for entrance into the reserves. I also miss out on the stipend with persuing my BSN because once again I must have graduated from an accredited school in order to participate in that. Sooo...I am on to my BSN and will begin my paperwork in my senior year. Thanks for your advice and a word of caution to those students out there reading these posts...check to see if your school is accredited before attending if this is your goal.
