For those people who are in the Army Reserves, can you please share with us your experience from BOLC, post-BOLC, were you assigned a station and had to move, etc? Whats it like to be in the army reserves?

Thank you for your responses :)

When I went thru OBC no BOLC it was 2 weeks long for the Reserves. It is now different, there are past post which explain the new course. In the Reserves you are assigned to a unit which is close to you. Most of the time it will be less then 100 miles from your home. If a unit is less then 50 units from your home you will be assigned to that unit if it has an opening. If there is not a close medical unit by you, you can request to drill with a local unit if both commanding officers allow it. Once you are in a Reserve unit you can do your whole career in it. Some units have very robust training and others do not, it depends on the unit, location and resources available. In the Reserves you are a warm body ready to be called up.

You could also keep in mind the national guard. I'd first start out googling or asking or looking to see what type of reserve and national guard units are in you area to see if they have 66 series near you if thats a concern... and go from there. ;)
