Army Nurse Corps FY2013

Published

Hey everybody, I'm starting a thread here for those applying to the Army Nurse Corps in FY2013. I figure this might be a good place to get to know other future nurse corps officers and a place for the veterans of the ANC to pass on some advice.

Share your story and hopefully we will meet down in San Antonio this Winter/spring of 2013

Ill start with my story,

I am a 28 y/o critical care nurse with 2 years experience in a level 2 trauma center in Virignia. I passed MEPS at Ft. Eustis and have submitted security packet, letters of reference and letter of intent.

I am applying to the October review board for Active Duty Army Nurse Corps for the 66H8A(critical care) and 66T(trauma) programs( I am not sure if they are still running this one, but you don't get what you don't ask for).

I am happily married with a baby on the way, my wife is 100% behind a move the Army and I feel blessed to have her love and support.

The road to the Army has been a long one with a degree in Biology, stint as a drug rep and return for an accelerated BSN.

I love being a nurse and love working in critical care. I hope to serve my country in uniform treating service members & their families at home and in forward deployed units.

I want to be an critical care nurse and officer in the U.S. Army and I hope that I will get to meet all of you in uniform at BOLC, at MEDDAC, CSH or FST in CONUS or OCONUS.

Here's to all us achieving our dreams of becoming Army Nurses!

HOOOOOOAH!

Specializes in Burns/Trauma.

If our recruiter is out of the office is there anyone else we can contact?

My recruiter said they didn't know what my OML number was and that no one knew. From what I understand, out of the 10 less than 2yrs experience nurses selected, only one was cleared to be commissioned "today". The others are still waiting on waivers. Either way it's more waiting:(

If I were you I would contact maybe the next closest healthcare recruiting office.

My wifes recruiter did say, that only one out of the entire selection was able to be commissioned same day, the rest were waiting on scrolls and or waivers. The recruiter also said, that the constructive credit was changed on october 30. to actually award more constructive credit. So there were some changes that had to be made before everything was completely ready. So to all that were selected, you should be seeing a little more constructive credit than you anticipated.

Specializes in Anesthesia, SICU, CICU.

For all Army CRNA applicants:

Ok, just got off the phone with my recruiter. For all of those who are going the USAGPAN route - they are not releasing our confirmation until they make sure everyone actually got into Northeastern U.. My acceptance letter was part of my packet so I don't know what is up with the others. They may release another memo today but then again they may not.

Wow so maybe all is not over for me?? My acceptance letter was part of my packet too. Maybe that's why my name wasn't on the list...thanks for letting us know.

This is very frustrating. It seems that a different story is given from each recruiter.

Specializes in CVICU/MICU.

VT and Irishliz,I've heard the same thing about my packet and why it still says still on board review our whatever while they finalize LTHET issues, so that should be same for everyone applying to usagpan.

It would be pretty sweet to know as a Thanksgiving present. It shouldn't be that hard for them to confirm this information...maybe we will hear today.

Thanks for the info MTB. Makes sense now why I wasn't on the original list, and why my packet still says "board review". Crossing fingers...

Gosh, I really hope you guys make it in. I imagine the USAGPAN crowd have a few more things to get straight before they get you finished.

I called every recruiting in Michigan with no answer, got ahold of one in Ohio and he said, "there were noresults for anyonewith my name!" I asked what that was supposed to mean and he said my results are just still ough? I wonder ifhe just didn't wanna give me bad news?! Augh! Just for the poll i am critical care with 5 yes experience and 3.8 gpa.
