hi
does anybody work for county health department? i am starting with them and i am starting in std clinic and nervours about drawing blood on pt. i dont want get needlestick by accident. please help

Are you still a student? If so, you will have a preceptor & have to observe procedures first, (usually throughout the health dept.) and then after a designated time of observation, you'll be assigned to a particular section of the health dept. Don't worry about needlesticks...they are very rare. You'll do fine!
Needlesticks are not usually the main worry we hear from students or new Rn's interning in our health dept.; it's almost always the worry over doing male STD genprobes.
LOL, just kidding, you'll do fine, & I'm willing to bet you'll really like the nurses that you'll work with.
