AF April/May 2012 FQ Board

Hi there! Is anyone else out there being submitted to the April/May 2012 fully qualified boards?? I say April/May because at first my recruiter told me the board met at the end of April, but last I spoke with him he said first week of May. This is my last time applying as I was non-selected in August. Really hoping for good news but mostly planning for bad news. Just wondering if anyone else is in agony out there!!

The way I understand the alternate process is, if selected as an alternate, should someone not be able to go to COT, you get their spot. Otherwise, it's like a glorified waiting list for FY2013. As an alternate, you are automatically in for the first COT of FY2013. In other words, a delayed entry. At least that is how it was explained to me. And it makes some sense, especially with this supposedly being the last board for critical care. I think there is another board for the NTP, but don't quote me on that.I'm just hoping this time, if not selected, I at least get a reason why. Not knowing why the first time just eats at me.I would just relax, go exercise, spend time with friends and family to pass the time and distract you. Everyone I have talked to has not been happy with the selection process, so hopefully since this board is different people it will have a better outcome.

Thank u for the replies... I keep telling myself whatever happens, there is a reason, if it's in the cards then it will play out that way. Wouldn't it be nice to have a little bit of an idea to know what they are looming for?? Oh well, lol... Good luck, and maybe we will all be in class together in the next few months! :)

Looking for, not looming.... Stupid autocorrect.

Sometimes, I think "looming" is the correct terminology!

So, wishful thinking, anyone heard anything?

My recruiter texted me to have a good weekend. Does that count?

Nothing here yet...

I think any form of communication should at this point. I'm going to see my recruiter in the morning to give him my updated TNCC card with CEU certificate to see if we can get that faxed to the board as well showing them that everything is current and in good standing. Hopefully that will tip a scale in my favor, but who knows.

Has anyone else found others applying to this board of would it be crazy-wishful thinking that we're the only three for those three spots?! Though, that would be really trippy...

That would be trippy, however, I'm ok with ya being the only ones applying.... :)

With US being the only ones.... Is it for sure only 3 spots left???

Three spots according to my recruiter. Now, who knows. I'm sure this may change because that seems to be the name of the game. But if it makes any of us feel better, according to my recruiters superior officer, this is something recruiters across the country are really unhappy with. They are seeing very low selection rates for no apparent reasons. It's not like there are no patients, and they always say they are needing more nurses. But then they don't select as many as they say they need. I'm sure it also has to do with budget constraints, but that just doesn't make me feel any better either.

How are you guys staying distracted? I'm laid up with a sore foot, so I can't work out.

Finally!! Decision week is upon us!! Good luck guys!! Hopefully the 3 ER spots will be filled by the 3 of us!! Please post any news or updates. I'm not too good at the hurry up and wait thing! Also I think my recruiter may be on a cruise so he's no help.
