When you are short staffed, Is your DON allowed to help pass meds? At my facility, we are told NO. We are told that per medicare guidelines our DON is not allowed to pass meds.

I have never seen any DONs' pass meds, they have millions things to do. If there are any shortages or bad snow storms, ADONs, MDS, even unit managers would take a cart and pass meds.

I'm a DON. I work on the floor 3 days a week and pass meds. I do agree with the above poster though - we work a lot of hours that are not paid OT.
You must have a small facility.

135 Residents. Potential for more when full. It makes it a lot easier for me to be approached by my residents and for me to relate to my nursing staff.
