Okay here it is my friend is doing home care and she is taking care of patient with a J and G tube.. The tubing came out of her stomach and she wants to know what to do.. She tired to put it back in but she couldnt tell if it was in the right place or not... My question is I know what a G-tube is and where it's place but can someone tell me what a J tube is? where is it placed? and if it falls out can you put it back yourself???

the j-tube goes to the jejunum which is right below the stomach. it cannot be replaced by a regular person. you will need a doctor to do it and they will verify with an x-ray. good luck

When in doubt, she should always call her supervisor or the medical director. Much better to ask than guess and harm the patient. No one is going to think she is stupid.
