Any Restorative Nurses out there ?

I have recently been offered a restorative nurse postion at the 190 bed facility where I work.. I am seriously thinking of accepting the offer.. the only thing that stumps me is the mention of having to monitor the wounds.. I do not see this as part of restorative nursing.. Are they trying to snow me with an extra job on board ?... None of the former restorative nurses monitored the wounds that I'm aware of.. I would appreceiate any input.

Also if anyone has any forms, ideas, care plans, etc.. that you could share, I would appreciate it.

Thanks

It is rare in LTC to do only one job. Depending on how many pressure ulcers are in the building it could be a time consuming job. I would ask if they have an effecient skin program or are they expecting you to get it up and running. Do they expect you to do care plans and MDS's also? To do a Restorative program correctly it will be a full time job in its self. If you are organized, love a challenge, and up on the regs you will do fine. Just keep in mind that it will more than likely be a busy job but also a rewarding one. I do not do the Restorative part but I do the run the skin program as part of my job. If you take the position read and know the CMS guidelines for pressure ulcer prevention. It will be crucial. Good luck and congratulations.
