I am taking ap and some other smaller pre reqs it doesnt seem bad so far. I would apply to both...why risk not getting into one? im taking ap1 with sadri and the lab with ozcan along with some other smaller classes like intro to psych. are you at gwinnett now? i heard clayton and mercer are good too

I too am applying to Gwinnett tech fall 2013 as well as brenau's day program... I'm currently taking micro and I'm registered for chem in the fall in case I get into BSN program... Good luck with a&p 1!!

brenau has went to conditional admission at this point so i am scared to apply. also their pass rates are low...how is micro? ap lab is kicking my butt

I'm a GTC 2013 hopeful. Just took my A&P II Lab midterm today. I'm registered for Micro in the fall. Good luck to everybody!

Micro is going well.. About 1 month left!! The lab is much more involved than in a&p, but I like it.. I've decided on 3 diff schools I'm going to apply to for nursing-- Gwinnett tech, Georgia state, & brenau. I am going to call the BON and see what they have to say about brenau's 'conditional' approval. I'll be pumped when I'm done with these summer classeS bc stats is kicking my ass :-(

I'm taking the pre-reqs starting Fall 2012. I have wanted to be a nurse for years, but there seemed to be so many obstacles. Like developmental math classes, having to work, how to afford it, etc., but I going to try anyway. I'm a "mature" student". Glad yall are here for support!

Thanks :)

I just wanted to let you guys know I am rooting for you and you can do it!!! I start my nursing courses this fall and I'm very excited. The process was a little scary, but confidence is the key to pull through. Just finished purchasing books, uniforms, and supplies. VERY expensive so if you can start saving now towards the nursing program, please do. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.

First off, congrats on being admitted to the program & good luck!

Im applying to Gwinnett tech and Brenau for nursing, & I'm about to take the Kaplan on the 16th of this month.. I bought the Kaplan study guide, but was wondering if you felt that there was a lot of chemistry on the test from what you can remember? I'm taking chemistry this fall and hope its not too ambitious of me to attempt the Kaplan without any chem experience. Also, can you use a calculator on the test? I've heard conflicting info about that and just want to be clear..

Thank you so much for any info, kind of you to offer help to us pre-nursing students-- you're right the application process to nursing school can be scary and overwhelming!

The math in the study guide is harder than the actual test. The test consists of adding and multiplying fractions, solving for (X), etc. Nothing hard about the math at all. If you have a decent grade in College Algebra you should be fine. There is a writing section that is not included in the study guide. That section covers verb tenses, verb agreements, punctuation, which sentence in the paragraph should be excluded and which sentence should be added. The study guide has a section that reviews synonyms and antonyms. Disregard that section because it will not be on the test. The reading of course is the same. Just read passages and answer questions. The science is more in depth than the study guide actually covers. KEEP your AP2 study guide and study the physiology portion of it prior to taking the test. There is no chemistry on the test. Calculators are not permitted. You will be provided scratch paper. ***THIS INFO APPLIES IF YOU TAKE KAPLAN AT GWINNETT TECH, IF YOU TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE, I CANT BE SURE THE LAYOUT WILL BE THE SAME***

Thanks for the info, kamecee. I'd been hearing mixed reviews on the Kaplan guide and I noticed it doesn't even mention the Kaplan exam as one it covers. It's nice to hear I didn't completely waste my money. :specs:

Good luck in the program!
