troy Univesity fall 2010

Hello Guys.,

is anyone here applying for Troy university's bsn program in fall 2010?

Anyone know the average GPA of accepted students? and the acceptance %?

Hi! I'm in nursing school at Troy (BSN) right now and when I went to IMPACT, they told us that (as of fall '08), everyone with the minimum requirements had gotten accepted. I'm not positive it's still like that, but I haven't heard of anyone getting turned down! Just make sure you have all of your pre-reqs (with at least a C in all of the classes you're supposed to have one in!) and a 2.5 GPA and as far as I know you'll be fine!

Good luck and have fun! :)

Thank you Kristan for the reply...if this is still true, then am definelty going to apply for this fall. I have three other classes to take. Do you like the program tho??

I do! a lot! I've only been in it for one semester, and it was a lot of work and so different from anything I've ever experienced, but now I can't wait for school to start back! The tests are mostly application questions instead of memorization questions, so you have to make sure you understand the hows and whys of everything you learn in order to answer them, and it takes a lot of people a while to adjust to that style of studying. And you're expected to be professional, turning in tons of assignments in full and on time without making any excuses! I could seriously feel myself growing up more and more each week! I was also really surprised how quickly my teachers knew my name! I just can't really explain how glad I am to have started nursing school at Troy. It's been challenging in a lot of ways, but the challenges have never been insurmountable! Just enough to make us into better people and better future nurses!

Does Troy require pre calculus or college algebra?? on the list of pre reqs it says pre calculus algebra and i wasn't sure if that was the equivalent of college algebra. Also is it a two step accepyance process where you apply to the school first and after you complete the pre reqs then you apply to to the actual program??

thanks

wow. that is confusing! I looked it up and as far as algebra and pre-cal classes, Troy offers Fundamentals of Algebra (Math 1100), Intermediate Algebra (Math 1105), Pre-Calculus Algebra (Math 1112), Pre-Calculus Trigonometry (Math 1113), and Pre-Calculus Algebra and Trigonometry (Math 1115). So I guess pre-cal algebra is just pre-cal minus the trig and would be a little different from college algebra.

And yep, it's a two-step process!

Thanks for the info! I am applying as well. My only class that I am missing is Chem. I am moving up from Florida as the wait list for programs in my area is insane!!! Good Luck!!

Wow Kristandrews,

You just encouraged me to apply to Troy!! Thanks alot.

Also, Newhope..maybe we should keep in touch. am also applying for this fall and moving from GA.

Well, I'm also applying for the fall and moving from GA....If I don't get into Gordon. For those of you coming from Ga can you please tell me if regular pre calculus wil fulfill the Troy requirement.

Thanks

I took both pre calculus and college algebra but the lady i spoke to in the nursing department told me that college algebra was needed. You could call the nursing school and ask about it

waka,

I don't have enough posts yet to private message you back. Sorry! They offer a couple of classes in the summer, but not a semester's worth. But there is a 4-semester option if you can maintain a 3.5 GPA in nursing school, make all A's and B's, and make 4's on your ATI exams in first and second semester.
