Piedmont Healthcare New Grad Residency 2013

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Has anyone interviewed at Piedmont for the new grad program that starts in August 2013? I had an interview almost 2 weeks ago and am waiting to hear back whether I was accepted or not. I am feeling quite anxious - has anyone heard back as yet or have any idea when to expect notification? I was told the wait time would be "several weeks".

Oh good, yeah just make sure you have photo copy of you passport or driver's license in there too. I also had to do Nursys and because I hadn't worked as a RN yet I didn't have to do the work part which saved time. And the fingerprinting was fairly easy. I registered and had it done the following week. Yeah I was nervous. I heard horror stories about how long but it literally only took a week! So hopefully it goes fast for you too.

I got accepted into the CV residency :) anyone currently work there in any of the cardiovascular units and can tell me about the different ones? Anyone in the CV residency that starts in August?

I will be doing the critical care residency, but we do have some cv involvement. I believe during my interview they said they had a cardiac icu that was for post op patients... Another may consist of chf patients but then again I could be lying because I was only interested in hearing about the med-surg icu :) but I start August as well!

Congrats everyone on your residencies! I hope my interview goes well next week.

Congrats everyone on your residencies! I hope my interview goes well next week.

When is your interview? Good luck! And let me know how it goes..mine is the 18th!

Mine is on Wednesday! Hopefully we will be coworkers :)

I got a call back for the OR residency as well. I got my interview on the 18th. Does anyone know how many they are interviewing for this cohort??? I'm coming all the way from CA and I have a small baby back home, so I am still debating if I should go or not. If there is a LOT of applicants and you have to pass the math test, maybe the chances of getting hired is minimal???

Also, does anyone know how hard the basic math test is? Do you need to prepare?

allyx226 and tallchica54 good luck on your interviews.

Congrats Vickan. I am not sure how many are hired in the OR cohort! I hope everything goes well because OR is my ideal nursing job. I heard the math test is basic nursing math questions such as drip rate, insulin sliding scale, and how tablets/liquid etc. I don't think I am preparing for the math questions since it seems like basic math (hopefully we get a calculator though :) )The only thing I suggest is getting your license endorsed asap. They can take anywhere from a week to three months I have heard. I was fortunate and it only took a week for me. Good luck and hopefully all good news for us!

Vickan, I am coming from MA so I feel you! I did however ask HR while scheduling my interview how many they were looking to hire, she told me around 6-8 (could possibly be more/less just depends). I also asked how many they were interviewing, since I will be spending a few hundred to even get down there I wanted to know my chances. She said they were obly interviewing "a handful" of candidates. That makes me feel a little better, so I hope that helps! My interview is the 18th as well, good luck and safe travels!

If you guys need help at all with the Atlanta area let me know. I just recently moved here but I am getting familiar with the area. Hopefully the "handful" means better chances :)

Thank you for the information :) So it seem like they only interview a few people, that's a good sign.

I plan on brushing up a little bit on my math skills cause it's not my strongest asset and it's been a while since I graduated, here is a very helpful website if anyone is interested: DosageHelp.com - Helping Nursing Students Learn Dosage Calculations

As far as endorsing my license, I probably won't do that unless I am offered a position- hope the process won't take to long!

Good luck !

How is the cost of living in Atlanta? I have been trying to look it up but cant really tell. The cost of living here in MA is on the higher side, and I know GA as a whole is less expensive, but I'm curious about Atlanta. I would be looking for an apt. Actually the apartment complex I currently live at allows me to transfer to one of their other properties without any penalties/fees for breaking the lease and there are 2 located in Atlanta. One is in the Peachtree area and the other is in Buckhead I believe? And I am not sure what we would be offered in terms of pay, I just want to make sure I'll be able to make a living! I think I will be fine, just scary to move 1,000 miles away!
