North: Northside(facilities in Sandy Springs-main hospital, Forsyth co, and Cherokee co.) Great place to work if you are interested in L&D, mother-baby, etc. They have over 18,000 deliveries a year.
I just wanted to add... as a doula and aspiring nurse/midwife, I would NEVER work at Northside. Yes they have a ton of deliveries there, but birth at Northside is VERY medicalized--they have something like a 98% epidural rate, very very high cesarean birth rate, routine use of pitocin (do a search for Northside on , and are overall very unnecessarily restrictive of laboring women.

I have heard heaps of good things about L&D at North Fulton, however. That is where I would like to work as an RN.

If I was a glutton for punishment, I would work at Northside, but only to make a small difference in the births of women there (not likely!)

Lots of "suggested" Pitocin labors at Piedmont as well. And the staff there is not desirable, save for a nurse here or there. Also buyer beware, they pride themselves (and their website!) for being a "physician-led hospital"

I was only there for 2 weeks, but saw many women be given Pit even though they originally said they didn't want and it went against their birth plans.

    FYI y'all

    Just a little FYI:

Clayton State University has a great BSN program. And for anyone interested in Peds or NICU, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is great. Great place to work and you will learn alot. I miss it!!!

You might want to look into Grady Hospital. They're sick and they are *the* trauma hospital for the area. It's not too bad of a commute from Peachtree City as I can recall... but don't quote me on that.

Yikes. Athens is a far throw from Atlanta. The salaries are lower out there according to a friend of mine who lives there and commutes 2.5 to this area to work. She works weekend option and sleeps nearby for one night. Apparently, the salary she makes here is much better than anything she can find in Athens.

You might want to just do a search for Athens salaries for RNs.

    hello,
i work right now at a major south florida medical complex and i know many of the powers that be at jackson(a public community hospital that serves south florida like grady serves the atlanta area). i heard from them that grady was closing it doors soon. maybe that would not be such a safe bet and i lived in atlanta, well douglasville really but i remember that grady was not in the best neighborhood. i am happy for now but i am seriously thinking of moving back to georgia in a few years. the housing market here is the pitts and it is not going to bounce back any time soon. the cost of living is too high and the salaries are not keeping up. i am happy here because i am doing important research and we have big plans but in 3-5 years, maybe sooner, i will be going peachy.
