KSU accelerated RN program Spring 2012

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Ok, so I've kind of looked around the site, but I can't find what I'm looking for. I applied to the KSU accelerated nursing program for the Spring of 2012. Our applications, TEAS score, etc. already had to be turned in by May 31st. I was curious to know about how long they take to get back to you to let you know if you made it to the second round. I've got a 3.2 GPA right now, and I graduate from UGA in December with a BS in Psychology. I made a 91.3% overall score on the TEAS V. Does anyone have any idea about my chances of getting in? I took the TEAS without even taking A&P at all, but I'm taking it right now. Any advice if I do make it to the second round? I am CPR/First Aid certified and I have my CNA. Also, if anybody needs any advice about the TEAS, I'd be happy to answer some questions and tell you what I thought of it.

Thanks!

You can actually buy the pants anywhere, as long as they are white. I would HIGHLY recommend buying them from Life Uniform. There is a location in Town Center Mall, and you get 10% off for being a nursing student. You just need a school ID to show them. You can also get 10% off on online orders for being an NSNA (National Student Nurses Association) member. You can be a member even as a pre-nursing student. Feel free to sign up at http://www.nsna.org. It's only $35/year and you get some amazing benefits. You have to order the shirts from Meridy's because they sew the KSU patches on for us, but like I said, the pants can come from anywhere...as long as they are white. A lot of students that bought the Meridy's pants HATE them, especially females because the crotch hangs very low...almost to the knees!

Good deal. Thanks!

If we do buy the pants from another place can we get them with the wide legs at the bottom? I feel like those would fit over our shoes alot better! I was planning on buying from Merdys just to make sure the pants were okay, but if you are already in nursing school and say that people are getting them elsewhere i would be okay with that too! PLease let me know!

Yes. As long as they are white, you can wear them. I wouldn't get anything too crazy like the cargo pant scrubs, but a simple, white pair of pants with a pocket or two down the leg and a wide leg is perfectly fine. I have a pair of flare leg pants to go over my shoes better, and I love them! I am nearly finished with my clinical rotation, and I have never worn a pair of Meridy's pants! :) I also did my competency checkoffs in Life Uniforms pants. The pants are not the focus and don't need a patch or anything. So, just be sure to order your shirts and labcoat from Meridy's. The shoes and pants can come from somewhere else. I got Dansko shoes. They are expensive, but worth it. It may not seem like it your first semester when your clinical is shorter, but when you start having 12 hour clinical days...you'll be elated that you have them! I used to waitress, and I had a pair of black Danskos. They hold up very well, and feel great!

Thank you so much! i will definitely be buying my pants from life uniform then! Thank you for the helpful information!! We all really appreciate it. I am so excited for orientation!

I'll see you all at orientation! SNA will be there to tell you a little about the organization and sell T-shirts and such. Congratulations on your wonderful accomplishment! We look forward to having you all as a part of the nursing family! :)

Does anyone know where I can take the required CPR training? I live in Smyrna/Mableton Cobb county area. Thanks

Hello my little Nurselets!!!

I know you are all excited for your acceptance letters and it probably feels like this has been a long time coming. Believe me, we were all there.

I would say wait doing anything until you receive your letters from the nursing office about all the requirements you need. You should have received them, if not, they are coming soon.

On behalf of SNA, I want to welcome you all to the program and we look forward to seeing you all! The SNA board and members will be on hand at orientation to help answer questions and probably give tours. You will have the opportunity to try on uniforms at that time as well. We will set up a facebook page for you. This will probably be done by Orientation.

Definitely start looking at the Calculating with Confidence book. You will get a list of the specific chapters to review during Orientation.

If you have any specific questions, please feel free to msg me. I am currently your new President of SNA and I hold a state office on the Board for GANS (Georgia Association of Nursing Students) so I will definitely try to point you in the right direction. I do hope you all consider getting involved. If you are interested in leadership positions.. the board will be looking to elect a class representative for your class. If this is something of interest, we will be announcing it at orientation. Also, bring your money to buy t-shirts, fleeces and badge reels!

We look forward to having you join our family!!!

ayti, here's a link to the locator on the AHA website. You can search by zipcode and then do a sort by distance to see the one nearest to you.

So I was scheduled for physical at my hospital on Dec 8th. Is that enough time to get it done before Dec 15? I'm worried I might not complete everything before then since there are immunizations n titers I need to do. Does anyone know if ksu clinic accept insurance?

I don't know if the clinic accepts insurance...probably, but they do immunizations for a very low cost. You should be able to get most of your immunizations the day of your physical, unless it is a series. For example, the Hepatits B is a 3 shot series. As long as you have started the series by orientation, you can continue to get the others at the scheduled times.
