Georgia Nursing Programs GPA/Teas V?

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello everyone! I am about to take my teas v and apply to nursing programs in Georgia. Would anyone mind sharing the GPA and Teas V score that they were accepted with and the school that they applied to? I currently have a 3.46 GPA, (3.26 math/science) and want to know what programs I have a shot at. Thanks SO much for your help!

These are the schools I'm really interested in

Kennesaw State :)

West Ga

Ga State

Clayton State

and North Ga (though for some reason it appears to be a military based school, am I completely off about this?)

Moved to the Georgia State Nursing Programs forum for more of a response.

I recently spoke with Kennesaw State and was told that the average student has a 3.5 program GPA and a TEAS score above the national average. I'm a pre-nursing student at GA state, and I can tell you our program is pretty cut-throat. I have a 3.8 program GPA and a TEAS score of 89, and my advisor told me I should consider other schools because my statistics are weak for the traditional program. You can see GSU's admission statistics here: Admission Statistics — BFLSN&HP — Georgia State UniversityI don't know too much about North Ga's nursing program, but I transferred from NGSCU to GSU in 2011. I was a chemical engineering major at the time and not at all involved in the military. The reason it is considered a "military" college is because most of the male students are campus are cadets. There are plenty of civilian students on campus, particularly women. You won't be required to take part in anything at all related to the military. The cadets do their own thing and have separate barracks-style housing from the civilian students. You might occasionally see them practicing drills on the parade field, but that's about it, unless you actively try to be involved. Even then, your involvement is minimal...I think most girls were just "sweethearts" for different companies, meaning they baked for the cadets and did small things for them.

Kennesaw State gets about 1000 applications and has an advanced as well as a regular admission. They seat maybe 130 students per session. You can look at their page on here and get the specifics. It's not an easy program to get into either and they don't even look at national averages its way higher than that. I only know people who did not get into their program and two of them have great scores and GPA's and already have BS degrees. I hear Mercer has a new program and it's easier than either of the schools on your list to get into. Good luck to you!!

Thank you all SO much!!! Good luck with your careers!!!

My scores:

Overall GPA 3.75

TEAS 95.3

I was accepted into Kennesaw State and Valdosta State for the traditional BSN programs. I was rejected by Georgia Southern. My advice is to apply to a few different schools because each one uses a different admissions formula. There is a KSU Spring 2013 thread about 40 pages long with other stats for students accepted and rejected.

Thank you so much! And WOW congrats on your teas score that's amazing!

Not sure about the other schools, but the posts look pretty accurate re: KSU and GSU. Astronomia, still amazed at your advisor. According to GSU's website, the TEAS average was 85. 89 is well above that! How are you not competitive?! Craziness, I tell you!

I know that Clayton State is a bit easier to get into - I've seen girls with 3.3 or so and TEAS in the 70s get in there.
