Darton College Summer 2011

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello everyone. I just applied for admissions for the summer 2011 program a couple weeks ago. Has anyone esle applied as well? If so what is your GPA and HESI score if you don't mind me asking. My gpa is a 3.0, or higher because I have grades that have not posted, and I have not taken the HESI yet. Also, I applied to the Darton College. If I don't get accepted for the summer, I'll just apply for the fall.

Thanks

Alright HESI experts I need you. :) I'm studying the evolve book that is offered, and I'm wondering were there a lot of physics questions? 'cuz there sure are a lot in this book! Scary.[/quote']

I read on another post that although the study guide has physics and chemistry, the Darton test only covers Anatomy & Physiology!

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the website and I that it is a wonderful site. My question is for any student that attends Darton college. I would like to know a little about the acceptance process. I will be transferring in this fall from another college. I already have an Associate of Science degree in Psychology, but I want to pursue my nursing degree. I have complete all of my prereq's, I am a Patient Care Tech at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, and I was told that I needed to retake my A&PII over, because it is six years old, and I have to take medical term, which I am planning to take this fall. Do anybody know anything about the A&PII online? I am interested in applying for the summer 2012 program in Swainsboro. I read someone post where they stated that they did not get in because they have some withdrawals. I have some withdrawals but I receive a grade of a W. Can someone please respond and let me know everything that they have experienced with Darton nursing program? Also, is there is anyone that know of anything about the Swainsboro track. I know that I have to take the Hesi exam when I do applyThanks so much!!!

Hi Meme, and welcome! I don't know how much help I'll be, I'll try! :)

The overall acceptance process to me is a little confusing, mostly b/c it seems to vary from tract to tract. I know I was told by one of the instructors that they look for: good GPA (higher has priority), all or most core done, and decent HESI score. I have also heard that it is easier to get into the "neighbouring" tracts, such as swainsboro than the full Albany tract. No idea though, how accurate that is.

I had a friend who took the a&ps online, and the toughest part they said was the labs. They actually mailed him the organs to disect and he had to take photos of each step and send them in. The tests are proctored usually I believe. The med term I recommend on line, I am currently taking that one and w/ your background it'll be a breeze.

Hope that helps a little. Praying you get in! :)

Hi Doodle's Mom,

Thanks for the information. I appreciate any information I receive. I am going to apply for the Swainsboro tract. I am transferring into Darton this fall. My transferring GPA is a 3.5, I already begin to study for the Hesi Exam so I will be very prepared when I get the opportunity to take it. I am going to register for Mrs. Crowe's online A&P II. I hear that she is pretty good. I haven't heard to much about the medical term class but I think it shoulld be easy since I have been in the medical field for the last 14 years. Again , thanks for the information and if you learn anything else please let me know. Good luck, I am praying that we all get in.God is GREAT so I know our time is coming soon!!!:nurse:

Smart99guy & prettymica how is the program going at Darton??

Hey pewinsto!

I didn't get into darton... Taking micro at GHC hoping for Jan entrance.. How are you and what have you been up too?

I'm great! I actually got into Darton for the summer but had to decline due to me moving and my new job. They told me like 3 days before the semester started..crazy right?!?! So I applied for Spring 2012 and waiting to her back by Nov. 12th.

Yeah that's how it is in nursing school you have to be prepared... I went back to GHC so I wont have to move..

pewinsto, I am waiting on a letter from darton for the Spring 2012 traditional program and was wondering what your gpa and HESI score were? I'm so ready to know SOMETHING!

@prettymica yeah I hear you. I applied there or the Spring and didn't get in. :-( I found out yesterday.

@HADD7 I'm not sure what my gap was (sad I know) but my hesi was an 82. What about you?

Hey guys! In case you were curious, I'm currently in the first semester of the Nursing Program. I really thought I wasn't going to get accepted because I never took APII or MICRO yet. (I'm taking APII now) My GPA was a 3.2 and HESI score was 88. They don't really base it on how high/low your GPA or HESI is. If 300 people apply, they just choose the top 110. Those top 110 don't necessarily have to have the greatest GPA...its just the best out of those 300 that applied if you get what I mean...When I took the HESI, my class average was only a 75. It is a VERY tough program. I mean you have to do tons of hours a week of studying just to pass the test they have every other week. Also, in Fundamentals, you have to clock in 21 practice lab hours before you can go to clinical checkoffs. Clinical check offs is when you draw a card to see what procedure you have to perform and you can't mess up! I had my clinical check offs yesterday and performed a foley catheter WITH the most tough professor there! I was almost in tears but I passed. If you don't pass Clinical Check offs, you can't go to clinical which means you FAIL the class no matter what your average is at the time. I thought you guys would find this bit of info helpful because I had no clue you had to be at school OUTSIDE of what time your classes are....it is very time consuming and a lot of people in my class have quit their jobs because its almost impossible to work at the same time! I honestly don't know how I'm doing it with 2 toddlers and an infant but I know I'm walking with God the entire way! It took me a while to get into the swing of things. I felt like I was thrown to the sharks because I had no advice from anyone. Just know that the lead professor can be very intimidating but she is a GREAT teacher. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask :)
