Which are the best and worth Nursing schools in GA?

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

I m in Gordon college and m taking pre-requisites right now. My plan is to transfer to any other nursing school where I can get better hand-on experiences. I consider Emory University but because of its too expensive tuition fees, I can't think much abt going to Emory. My second choice is Clayton State Univerity.

I want to decide as soon as I can abt where to go so that I can take those extra pre-requisites that the nursing school (whichever I choose) expects to have for getting into its RN program.

What are other good nursing schools in GA?

I would NOT suggest Georgia Southwestern State in Americus, GA... they have a 55% NCLEX passage rate

I don't know if u r attending any nursing school right now...but if so which one is it? and do u like it experiences vise?

Hey,

This is a great question. I would at this point apply everywhere you can, get several acceptances and then repost your question regarding which you should choose.

I wish you the very best. Nursing school goes really fast because you're always so busy. It seems like one minute you're waiting on acceptance letters and then you're interviewing for your first RN position. Enjoy the journey.

Don't know if this helps you any, but here's the list of NCLEX pass rates on GA schools.

I graduated from there.

I graduated from Augusta State University (it was Augusta College then) and then got my BSN and MN from MCG. (I also got a practical nursing diploma from Augusta Area Technical School).

I had few questions for both Merellis2009 and Santhony44.

What is the GPA recommended to get into MCG and what are the NCLEX passing ratings?

And one off topic question is that is ASN-RN better or BSN-RN?

1. I don't know about a recommended GPA as I wasnt in the traditional BSN program, but certainly I would think 3.0+ would pretty much be an absolute requirement. I had a 3.55 but again, not the traditional BSN program. I did the accelerated general MSN program.

2. The list that a previous poster put up showed the MCG pass rate up to 2006 but I will tell you that 92.3% of my classmates (myself included) passed NCLEX the first time. The one who didnt pass on her first try ended up passing on her second try.

3. Let's not get into the "Who is better" debate with ADN versus BSN in this thread. There's a zillion other threads on allnurses.com that are devoted to that very *touchy* subject. I suppose it all depends on YOU and YOUR GOALS. Ex: If you would like to become a nurse practitioner one day (sooner than later) then BSN might be the choice for you at this time. However if you're a single mom with little income and you need to start making money asap, you might choose an associates program because 1) it's usually cheaper and 2) you may be able to get finished with school sooner. As I said before, it just all depends on what YOU want to do and where YOU want to go. One size does not fit all.

Hey thanks for the information...First, I might think of MCG but only if it's around 40-45 miles away from my home. Second, I have no kids yet and not thinking to get one until I become a nurse. So, I will probably go for BSN-RN.

thank you so much for helping me.

Good luck to u...
