Acceptance letters from N Georgia (UNG) Fall 2013

U.S.A. Georgia

Has anyone heard when acceptance letters will be mailed out??

If you hear anything, please let everyone know!!

Congratulations! Thanks for the tip : ) I'm very excited to be going to UNG I keep hearing great things about the program. I can't wait for fall to be here already.

About the uniforms, make sure you order them with plenty of time to return them, as their sizing is strange. I measured myself and ordered the uniform according to their guidelines and had to return the tops and bottoms. The tops were so snug that I couldn't breathe and the bottoms could've held 2 of me. Also, if you're tall, don't order the longer pants. My friend is over 6 ft tall and got the longer pants and had to get them hemmed. They were great about the return and getting me back the correct size but you do have to pay shipping to get the wrong sizes back to them. And, I know many other of my fellow classmates who had to do returns, as the sizing is strange.

I graduated in May and just passed my NCLEX last week. It seems like forever that I was in your shoes but it's only been 2 years. UNG does a great job of preparing it's students for the NCLEX as I don't know if anyone has not passed it, of the people who I know who've taken it so far. It is an extremely hard test and I honestly thought that I'd failed it, but I passed and am on cloud nine!

Any questions you might have, I'll be happy to answer, as I know how many questions I had and didn't have anyone to ask.

UNG has detailed maps of its buildings, designated student parking, and other pertinent info. I wasn't able to actually tour the campus since it rained buckets when I had my INTRO/JSOAR in June 2011. Like what Nikki said, it's an event where a smorgasbord of info from all departments are laid out in the Memorial Hall gym. One can register for a tour of the campus online. I saw group tours every week every semester. :-)

I was happy to have attended it because I got to meet my advisor, register for my core classes, and got to witness newly-accepted ASN gals registered for their cores. That was the norm at the time. :-)

As someone with a non-US transcript, it was a treat to get an overview of how a US university looks and feels like.

Non-US transcript... Where are you from? :)

Also, and this question goes out to everyone here in case someone knows (the lady I spoke with who works in the office of undergraduate admissions did not know): She said that registration takes place at the end of July, so I asked her if I should register for the couple core classes I have left to take then, or if I should wait until the nursing orientation to register for those, since we will be registering for classes then. She transferred me to two different numbers, but no one answered, so I still do not know whether to register for my core first (I'll probably just register for one core class each semester) or wait and register for all classes at the same time during nursing orientation? I would think registering for my core in the end of July would be smart so that I can get the times I want for let's say, history, global issues, etc... But I am not sure when the nursing classes will take place so it's kind of hard to do that! Does anyone have any insight into this? Thanks! :)

Thanks ladies! I think based on your recommendations I will skip this and save the gas money (I live in Jasper). On a side note has anyone gotten their uniforms yet? I was just about to order, I'm debating sizing I don't like not being able to try on don't want to order to snug or too large.

Where are you going to order uniforms from? Is this information in the nursing welcome packet? I have yet to receive it! :)

Congratulations!!! :) I am relieved that UNG does a great job of preparing the students for the test...Did you buy an NCLEX study guide or did you base your studying on your notes from nursing school?

I haven't ordered mine yet. I guess I better get to it just incase I will have to return them. I will follow the advice of @kmp when I order them.

So from your recommendations order one size up for tops and one size down for pants. Got it! Thx.

Will we need to order stethoscopes as well right now? The department said bp cuffs would be sold at orientation. Also did you order two uniforms or just one? What's the sizing on the lab coats?

Congrats on passing the NCLEX!!! That's is great to hear that they prepare us for that!!

That's a good question! I have no idea since I have taken all if my core classes. It would be good to know bc I may register for the one core class I will need to have for my BSN.

The information for the uniforms is in the welcome packet however you can also get the information from here as well

http://www.northgeorgia.edu/Nursing/Default_1col.aspx?id=5107

You can order then from Meridy's it's a code you put in for UNG. Other information is also included on that page that will be needed to turn in.

I think they noted a deadline of July 5th for ordering uniforms online thru Meridys, not too far off at this point.

Congrats on passing the NCLEX! :-) And thanks for the advice on the sizing. I've read how kinda funky it is. ;-)

I'm from the Philippines with a previous Bachelor's degree in Information and Computer Science.

As for your core vs. nursing registration questions, I would email the department secretary or the Nursing counselor. They would be in the best position to give you some direction as to the schedule of nursing classes, etc.

I know how you feel! I'm on vacation, but my mind keeps wandering to nursing stuff. :-) :-) :-)
