Today I went to work expecting to go about my normal business when SHOCK! I was greeted by LVN students working on our floor.
I am a new grad nurse, and this was the first time I had students working with me! Usually I was the student and the poor nurse would grumble something and then I wouldn't see her all day, so this was a very different experience for me. I was SO excited!:roll
I had always told myself how I would be different than many of the nurses I had to work with while in school, and guess what? I was!
:w00t:
Just remember that there are nurses out there who LOVE students. :icon_hug: Boy oh boy do I remember all of the hours I spent on careplans and research and stressing out. And the weak feeling in my knees when my CI asked me something I didn't know. But to see all of those nervous smiley faces in the pretty blue uniforms (mine was ugly hunter green, so yes, the blue was actually pretty in my eyes) who were so eager to put pts on bedpans and fill water pitchers....SIGH... I actually missed nursing school for a second. But then I had a reality flash that my job is so much easier than school and that the hospital where I work is a teaching hospital where I will always encounter students. I probably talked with my students more than they would have liked. But I remember that the nurses I worked best with were the ones that actually talked with me about my day, my pts, my charting, etc. I wanted to thank you all for the dedication and compassion you give. :redbeathe It does not go by unnoticed, and this is one nurse who is THRILLED to be working with you! Best of luck to you all, hope to see you on the floor! What else can I say except "YAY, the students are back!"
