how long have you been in the program? in my 3rd semester of 3.5 semesters.

how long is the program? 13 months

how long did it take you to get in? (waitlist?) no waitlist

what was your gpa? 3.6 from my previous bachelors degree

are you happy with the program? overall i am happy with it. i am really glad i decided to attend uf!

how much does it cost (estimate for the whole program)? i am not sure...i think around $1,500 per semester.

how long have you been in the program? second semester of 5 total.. each semester is 16 weeks long except the summer semester which is 10 weeks

are you happy with the program? of course.

how much does it cost (estimate for the whole program)? i think for the whole program approx 13,000 but thats with prereqs. for mine around 1400.00 per semester.

are you happy with the program? i'm learning a lot of book knowledge & am getting real good at care plan writing and data collections but don't think we get enough hands on time.

how much does it cost (estimate for the whole program)? each semester i think is about $2,000 plus books....so it would be a little over $8,000 for the whole thing. first semester books were close to $1,000 but have been less each semester after that.

how long have you been in the program? i am in my third semester... i graduate in may.

how long is the program? two years long

how long did it take you to get in? (waitlist?) only one year... they tell you there is a longer wait but really it's not that long.

what was your gpa? 3.205

are you happy with the program? usually :) i will be happier in may :)

how much does it cost (estimate for the whole program)? about $5000

how long have you been in the program? i am in my first semester.

how long is the program? 5 clinical semesters + 1 pre req semester

how long did it take you to get in? no waitlist. i applied in november, and found out in november.

what was your gpa? 3.5

are you happy with the program? i am happy so far. i want to see how clinicals are. i am happy about saving money by paying in state tuition, since i already have a masters and a bachelors.

how much does it cost (estimate for the whole program)? this semester is around $2,333, but starting next semester, my credit hours will increase, so it will be more like $5,000.

i have a few questions for you nursing students.

how long have you been in the program? 2 years part-time
how long is the program? part-time: 3 semesters to lpn, another 3 semesters to finish rn
how long did it take you to get in? (waitlist?) 2 years
what was your gpa? 3.3
are you happy with the program? fair
how much does it cost (estimate for the whole program)? $1,300 per semester
nursing school is alot rougher than i anticipated and i'm depressed alot. but i will keep pushing on! :nuke:

i'm looking into more options for school. unfortunately, it's very time consuming to go through every single school on the nursing school list.
two options have i have seriously looked into and am currently deciding between:
the stlcc's - adn ~ b/c i have a lot of credits already taken care of it'll be just around 5,000$ it's a 1.5 year waiting list though (after i apply in may)
and university of southern nevada - bsn ~ it'll cost nearly 40,000$ no waitlist but i'd only start a semester before stlcc because i need more prereqs before applying.
anyone in either of these programs? heard good/bad things?
sometimes i think i should just forget about the money, get loans, and go the bsn route...but sometimes i just am content with the adn...the change in cost is so drastic!!
anyway, your response would be greatly appreciated.

how long have you been in the program? i did 2 years of pre-requirements. now i am in my senior year.

how long is the program? 4 years

how long did it take you to get in? (waitlist?) 1 semester between application to upper division and entrance to upper division.

what was your gpa? 4.0

are you happy with the program? i am pleased with the teaching, but less so with the general learning environment. lots of undergrads party on weeknights, then whine about "how hard nursing school is" when they do poorly on exams, or "how mean the professor is" when he/she won't scale up test scores. also, students here seem to really like to riot and destroy school property whenever anyone utters "boston red sox". it's kind of a meathead district out here. :) also, the school has weathered severe budget cuts that impacted our facilities and faculty ratios.... it's supposed to be getting better in the coming years, though.

how much does it cost (estimate for the whole program)? well, it's 9883/year for just tuition and fees. multiply that times 4, then add about 500/year for books, then add housing, food, transportation and insurance costs and....yow. thank goodness i'm old and qualify for aid.

umass has done me right as far as having nearly limitless academic resources (the library is 30 stories high!) and lots of faculty working on independent research. we also have an honors college that gives its students a bit more attention, and the surrounding region is gorgeous in spring through fall. lots of countryside, hiking, and rivers to swim in.

i hope you find a program that fits you just right and best wishes for school!

how long have you been in the program? since august 2004

how long is the program? full time 2 years, part time 4 years

how long did it take you to get in? (waitlist?) no waitlist. needed to take pre entrance exam.

what was your gpa? 3.5

are you happy with the program? very happy. we get 1370 clinical hours and it has been very rewarding so far.

how much does it cost (estimate for the whole program: it costs i believe a little over $16,000 but they have a tuition forgiveness program if you work for upmc for 2 years after graduation so i won't pay a dime. (except taxes)

I'm 42, go to school at Covenant School of Nursing in Lubbock, Texas. It's an diploma program so I will have my RN when I graduate in June of this year. Yay! I already had most of the prereq's when I first thought about applying so I only had to take 4 courses to get in. There is not wait list that I'm aware of, I got in right away but believe that you just have to reapply again if you don't get in. I'm very happy with the program. Sure, there are a few nurse instructors who are past retirement age and maybe are there for health reasons, but most of the faculty is dynamic and all are required to have their MSN's or be working on them. We also have several NP instructors as well. They are professionals and don't let personality conflicts affect their judgement of someone. When I hear those horror stories about people in other schools who get kicked out for getting on the bad side of an instructor, I'm glad I'm where I am.

Plus we get a TON of hands on experience. I see lots of nursing students in the hospital from the BSN program through the local university, and while they will end up with a BSN at the end, their program is heavy on management and theory courses and lighter on actual clinical hours. I know I am definitely prepared to jump right in and do procedures.

Money was definitely a factor for me when I was deciding where to go, I did consider the BSN program but the cost was too much. My program is $7000 for the two years, that included books and uniforms. Now I believe that books are no longer included.

My only real criticism of our program is that the hospital that we are affiliated with doesn't fund enough equipment (like really good dummies to practice on before getting into clinicals). It made me feel a little more confident to get to practice putting in a Foley on a functioning dummy than to start off on a real live person.
