Mine might be a little different because I am in an LPN program...but we have an exam every morning that lasts about 2 hours. I kid you not...no one believes me. They are everyday monday through Friday 8:30 am to 10:30 am. Then, the rest of the day is lecture and skills lab until about 5 pm. It has been extremely hectic.....I am always trying to do homework...but at the same time study either pharm., a&p, fundamentals, growth and development, or micro. It totally sux.
We have a schedule for the whole semester that shows clinical days, lab days, lecture days (in detail), and dates/times for exams. I think each of our courses has about 4 tests + a cumulative final, worth 15-25% of our course grade. They're all multiple choice, and at the beginning of the semester we're given a schema for them all which shows numbers of questions from each faculty/subject area. They're multiple choice/scantron and range around 40 questions, except for our pharm calculations exam. We have a mastery exam each semester (this semester's was last week) - it has 25 questions and we must pass with a 95 or better. We also have quizzes scattered throughout the semester that are worth about 5% of the total course grade as well. Following big exams, we have "co-op tests" where we get together in groups of 4-5 and have a chance to take the exam together. If your group makes an A, you get 2 points added to your exam grade, a B is 1 point, a C or below is no points.
This semester we have 3 exams for each class with 70 multiple choice questions and 5 drug calc. questions. We are required to maintain an average of 80% to pass. There are no quizzes, but we know the dates of our exams for the entire semester. Tests are done on Scantrons, and then either posted online or given back the following day of class. This semester I only have class on Monday or Tuesday, so the potential of having to wait a week to find out the grade is just killing me. Our finals are considered regular tests just like all the rest and are not cumulative because there is too much information to cover, although some teachers sneak around this and give us a regular test worth a higher percentage of your final grade.

Every semester is different, but we always get a schedule of the entire 8 week class during the first class meeting.
Our tests are 50 questions and those questions can come from lecture, clinical, or ANYWHERE. For example: I have a test on HIV and TB coming up and she could come up with questions that are NOT IN THE BOOK
Ours are all scantron and anything less than 75% is a fail
We also have math and pharm incorporated into EVERY test
Its not too bad, but of course it is a challenge!
