hello everyone. i just wanted to know who is staying in dorms. if you are i wonder if you get phone service in your dorm as part of the package. what does your school charge you for monthly phone access? if it helps. i dont know if anyone heard about the aim phonline thing. For monthly service you get unlimitted call to anywhere in the US and 30 international countries all for $9.99 a month. its internet based. i think it is a good idea for anyone staying in dorms and dont want to pay for expensive if any dorm phone services. look into it. they give u a land based line and u dont have to worry about ur cell minutes either.

I get my dorm phone for free.

Where I went to school, only the intercampus calls (to the school and other dorms) were free - they were all just a 5-digit extension. For outside calls, every student was given an access code and we'd dial this when making an outgoing call. These calls were charged to our student accounts and we had to pay the bill at the end of each semester. They used the local phone service (AT&T at that time) so the rates were fair. We only paid for the calls themselves - no monthly fees to the phone company, which I'm sure was built into the dorm costs. A lot of students got calling cards to use for long distance calls. You might need to call your school and find out - most already have phone service hooked up and you can't mess with it because the phone jacks are school property.

I am staying in an apartment style dorm,so each room has it's own phone line and number. Everything is included in the cost of housing, including internet, etc.

When I stayed in a dorm, everything was included, so there was no separate charge.

When I lived in a dorm, local phone service was included. For long distance calls you had to buy a phone card. A lot of students used their cell phone for long distance calls.
