TCC Spring 2016 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I hope it's not too early to start a thread for those who are planning to apply to TCC this summer for Spring 2016. I will be applying with one A and two B's. I'm getting ready for my HESI test and I hope to get a good score. For those who have applied before, has anyone ever been accepted with one A.? I'm hopeful and also nervous. So let's get the ball rolling, and help encourage each other.

Which TCC?

TCCC - Is Tarrant County Community College in Fort Worth, Texas.

Oh! I've been kind of googling this every few weeks hoping it would come up. Haha. I'll be applying with two A's and one B, although I'll be re-taking my B in the fall just in case things don't work out this first time. I took my HESI in the spring and got a 92.5%. As odd as it sounds, study the reading portion especially with drawing conclusions!

I know that lots of people got in with two B's back when there were four science pre-reqs, but I don't know about since they went down to three. The best of luck to you ^-^

I'm applying in August as well! I take my HESI August 26th. I have 3 A's for the science classes so I'm hoping for at least a 90 on the HESI so that I can feel pretty good about my application. We'll see!

Ooh yay! I've been waiting for this thread. ;) I am taking micro this summer and applying in August. Right now I have A's in A&P, hoping to go 3 for 3, but we'll see. I am making my HESI appointment on Friday!

It's getting so close!

How's everyone doing on immunizations? I JUST finished getting everything done except for the flu shot. Those aren't going to be in season until half way through August, so I won't be able to apply until that. I feel like we had to get more shots than in most nursing schools haha.

I feel so behind! I don't have any done yet, though I plan to titer for chicken pox. Can your family doctor do a TB test, or do we need to go somewhere special?

I printed out the application for fall 2015 awhile back even though I didn't plan on applying for that to find out as much as I could ahead of time. You're not behind, you'll be able to print out everything July 1st and that's still enough time to get everything started and be done by the end of the year/before classes start next year.

And you can get your TB test done anywhere, you'll get a sheet for someone to sign off everything. Be sure to make copies of all the official documents you get proving anything, just in case.

If anyone would like to get ahead, these were the requirements for fall 2015, and I'm sure they won't change much.

Measles - 2 Doses or positive titer

Mumps -1 Dose or positive titer

Rubella - 1 Dose or positive titer

Tetorifice/diptheria/pertussis(Tdap) - 1 dose in last 10 years

Varicella - 2 doses or positive titer [last dose is six months after first]

Influenza - 1 dose annually

Hep B Series - 3 doses [last dose is six months after first]

Hep A series - 2 doses [last dose is six months after first]

One Negative TB Test - If positive, chest x-rays are needed.

I would definitely just get the titer done for MMR like I did, as most have it done as a baby.

I DID get chicken pox as a kid, but my titer came back INSUFFICIENTLY IMMUNE. So be careful with that one, it's tricky. haha

Hope this helps someone!

Thank you, that helps a lot! I will be getting the titers for as many as possible, so I'll definitely try for MMR too! I'm anxiously waiting for the application to go live.

Oops, forgot to mention the Hep series' can use titers as well. Basically anything except the Tdap and the flu allows for the option if you've been immunized before. ^_^ Just a few more days [kinda] and the application will be up. I'm so nervous. ;n; Gonna have my mother take my ID photo that you send in with it. I think it needs to meet passport specifications.

Good to know! I'll be making an appointment this week to get those started! I've heard they can take a bit to get back, depending on your lab.

I signed up for the HESI today! August 19th! Eek! How is everyone studying?
