I (please) need some suggestions on good tape recorders that will record well no matter what part of the room you are sitting in. Mine discontinued-brand one decided to die on me yesterday

So pretty much what people are saying is that the digital ones are not as likely to pick up the background noise?
I just bought a Sony Digtal one that has 6 hrs of space (6 hr class for 2 days a week, works well). I really hope that it's good, i just sold a kidney to pay for it.
Saw a regular tape one, it was the only one left but it had been opened. Made me wonder why it had been returned, though.

I simply bought a Sony microrecorder. I'ts compact enough to fit on the desk and in a small bag. I can save the lectures on tape.
Besides that I'm cheap.
Used my digital recorder tonight, worked VERY well, we had the A/C running along with the world's loudest water fountain running, and i didn't even hear any of that on the tape but the instructor's voice.

I have one I love from years ago. It is a Sony and I usually sit in the front so no problems with sound. Digital is probably the best but i am sticking with what I have until it dies!
I stuck with what i had and it did died, lol, that was my problem lol.
You should see me trying to use this thing, i look like Fred Flintstone in the Jetson age.

I bought one from Amazon over a year ago, I think it cost about $20+. I sat by some other girls who were also recording, but their tapes were fuzzy and hard to hear. Mine were crystal clear, they (all 2 of them) bought the same one I had!
Anyway, I love my recorder, it works great!
Panasonic VAS(voice activated system) RQ-L30
by the way, I never use the VAS option because it doesn't work right with all the class-noise going on.
I bought it awhile ago, so there may be a newer model out now.
Good luck!
