Study Tips

I was wondering if anyone here has some good study tips they could share? I'm having a hard time learning the material in the short amount of time that we are given. I usually read over the 20 page packet, half at a time. I'll usually do this over a period of a day. Then I'll try and read my med surg made easy books, or med surf help books, or the textbooks to clarify any information that I'm having trouble with. Do you think it would help to read the packet in halfs.. and then reread the whole packet over again? I did this in the first semester adn I used to do this in college but it seems like sometimes I would be studying too much and I'd miss the key points. I have ADD which I'm sure is a factor in why I have a hard time studying and all taht but I am on medication for it. Can people share the best way that they are able to study?

Cool idea! I've never thought of that!

I quick suggestion. You don't need to tear the pages out of your textbook. Just go to Kinkos and have them debind the books. It makes the pages loose and it cost no more than $10.00

for me, it would be a disaster. I would not take the time to put them in something and they would get all messed up. Its a good idea though.

could you imagine droping it in the parking lot? LOL

They can punch holes in it and then you can put it in a binder. Ive done that and it is very convenient.

Is there any places other htan kinkos where you can get this done? I have no idea where a kinkos is that is near where I live. It sounds cool. Have you ever regretted ripping your textbook apart though? Lol... i'd probably regret doing it after it was all said and done.

I got my book taken apart this semester (4th). It's the best thing I could have ever done. Forget about the inconvenience of caring a 50 lb. book with you. Makes life much easier.

You also try office depot/office max. I guess any print shop. They should be able to do it for you

SO after this debinding of the books... what do you do?

If you need 20 pages of your med surg book to study do you take it out of the "textbook binder" and put it into your study binder to carry that around with you? If not that, what exactly do you do? I'd be scared of losing pages or something.

Hey Thanks! I have just posted a question about study tips for adults with add on our pharm class site. Your tips are fantastic! I intend to put them into use. My grades are good so far but the stress of getting them is killing me, plus I never feel I am making the most of my learning. Thanks:balloons:

yeah, haveing ADD rocks!

at least I can blame not being able to spell on something...

When you guys rewrite your notes... how do you do it? Do you write them in a notebook, or do you type them on a computer, or do you type an outline on a computer then writein what you need to know? Are you giving handouts in class that you write on or do you just write your own notes on notebook paper?

We are given handouts that we write on but theres hardly ever enough room. A few times I have retyped the outlines adding a lot of spaces and writing in which helped. I was thinking of writing my notes in a notebook to see if that helps easier tostudy off of rather than retyping the outline and rewriting the notes.

So i wanted to see how everyone else does this... can you fill me in?
