students please tell me what would you do???

Hi All, I really need your advice on what I should do/ what would you do if you where me? Ok, I'm currently a prenursing student (I am also a LPN). After taking the placement test I had to do learning support math (which is math 97 and 98). I just completed 97, now I have to do math 98, with that being said I am UNABLE to take A+P 1 and 2 until I complete 98. So I will not be able to take A+P 1 until summer 2011, which means I will not be able to apply to the lpn to RN bridge program for the 2012 class ( I would have to wait until 2013:crying2:). I dont want to wait another 2 yrs when I have all of my course classes completed besides A+P 1 and 2.

Even if I took the A+P in the summer of 2011 the class isnt completed until July and the cut off for the application to get in the program is May 15th for one school and June 15th for the other.

So my question is this....should I go ahead and study for Excelsior College's A+P exam, take in before the dates above or just be patient and wait until 2013??

So here's what I would be doing starting spring 2011 (Jan) math 98, U.S History, Public speaking, and studying for Excelsior A+P exam...what do you guys think I should do?

If I were you I would hire a tutor for a couple of hours and then retake your math test...and take A&P in Spring of 2011. No reason to waste an entire semester when you could skip the math with a little refresher course. JMO

Yeah I thought about that a few months ago. They wont let you retake for 2yrs:-(

A&P I has no math that I recall, lol. It has lots of rote memorization of human body parts.

Can you find another school within commuting distance (that doesn't require any prereq that you haven't already passed), sign up for A&P I at that school as a part-time student, or enroll there as "undecided" or as pre-nursing, pay in full by cash or credit card, don't submit any transcript unless they demand it, and don't tell either school about being a student at the other one until after you've passed A&P. If they want a transcript, then give them a working copy and see if that will suffice. Then work your tail off and pass that A&P, which puts you in line for first shot to register for A&P II.

I ordered my prereq classes off the menu, so to speak, using three area colleges plus credits I already had. But I already have an AS and BS degree, and just needed some life sciences for RN.

I found somewhere I can take A+P I and its 4 credits. OCC online A+P. I start January 24th the spring term.

How did this go for you keepmovinglpn? So GPC took the credit from this school? Was there a lab included? I'm taking A&P now at GPC.

Yes ma'am they took it! I passed with a "B", it was alot of work bc I did all the labs at home etc...but it was worth it bc I didnt want to take chemistry and I was able to be accepted for the class of 2012.

didn't want to take chemistry? are you saying that your nursing school doesn't require its students to take chemistry? how on earth do they expect their grads to understand the chemistry they need to work? or am i missing something?

I would say your missing something. You don't need to know chemistry to be a nurse. Not trying to be rude, just saying.

I never took Chem and managed just fine to understand what I needed to know to thrive in the nursing program.
