Starting my first clinical on Monday

I'm starting my very first clinical on Monday at 5:30am. My clinicals for the next 5 weeks are at a rehab unit for my Gerontology class. I'm so nervous but excited at the same time.

I'm so tired from class this week... I think once I get a little rest this weekend I'll be less nervous. My main worries are I hope I don't hugely mess up, and I hope my first patient isn't purely cruel.

Just wanted to wish you luck. I know exactly how you feel as I was just in your shoes a few weeks ago. I was soooo very nervous but it all went just fine. I have had four clinical days so far and I have loved every one of them. I am looking forward to the next one. I do get nervous before each one, but not as much as that first time. Let us know how it goes!!

I'm on week ...10? I think of clinicals. I still get nervous beforehand. And I still have mental freakouts sometimes on the floor if there's something I'm unsure of. I'm sure you'll do fine! Anxiety is natural in that kind of situation!

Good luck!

I was super nervous before my first clinical. I'm much better now. It's really not that bad. You won't be asked to do anything you're not ready for. And the patients have to give permission for you to help care for them, so they're usually pretty friendly if they are conscious.

Enjoy your first clinical day, and remember, it does get easier with time. I still remember how nervous I was on my first day, but I just jumped in and started doing what I learned in class.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

hope it goes very well for you

and wanted to say that one of my favorite units is rehab, so

I'm happy for you to hopefully have a positive atmosphere with

great staff and patients

I want to wish you luck.. i have 2 .... TWO clinicals left... i still remember my first clinical... i can't even tell you how intimidated i was... i had to have someone go into the room with me... pitiful i know... now i just want to go and get it over with! im like... lets go.. and i'll be at work and a call light will go off and i'll say i'll get it.. the nurse will say do you want to be briefed? i'll say i'm just going to see what they want... go in get it done! most patients are very welcoming. Just remember be confident but not cocky.. if they say have you done this before... TELL THEM YES NO MATTER WHAT. Talk to them. This is a time when you get to talk to them... that's what a lot of them want.. is someone to talk to.. when you're helping them do something... just talk to them... Good Luck
