First day of Pharmacology class, everyone was told the Dean would only open this class if we got 29 students. We only had 19. I start Nursing in Spring 11, with the hectic schedule, I won't be able to take this class. The professors know it, everyone knows it. augh.......so sad!!

i dunno every college is different. im starting nursing school monday and my load till Dec is

Nursing Process 1 and 2 with obviously their clinicals, a math class for health professionals and pharm

if u are really worried about it look into taking pharm at another school and transfer it back

It's too bad they didn't give the nursing school the head's up that was going to happen. Some of us might have tried to audit it for a review. Many of us were turned away from the nursing school's pharm class yesterday because there were too many :(

Hi Apgar, If I remember correctly, you are in Cerritos College NS right?

I am too. I am entering in Spring 11. I went to Pharmacology the first day and we didn't have enough students in the class so the class was cancelled. I know this class is not mandatory, but I really want to learn this. I guess I will just have to take this with my classes in Spring.

Pharm isn't necessary at your school? I have to take 2 semesters of it!

Yes it's necessary. But the class the OP is talking about is a general pharm class for anyone in a health sciences class to take; the one I'm talking about is a 2-part class within the nursing school curriculum that is mandatory if you didn't do the general. The second of the 2-part class was full so a lot of us were turned away from auditing.

Yes tokidokifantasy, I'm at Cerritos :)

hi Apgar, do you think it would be manageable to take the Pharm 200 in the first semester of NS? I did see our syllabus already and I know there's a lot of reading and tests, but I absolutely want to take this class. We even had nursing students audit this class for the third time because they just love it so much!! LOL!!

thanks for your input!

When was it supposed to be scheduled? It's not on the online schedule anymore so I can't answer. LMK.

Pharm 200 was every Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm. They are talking about moving this class to Friday so more people could come. But being that it will be my first semester in NS next semester, do you think this class would be manageable for a new student like me who has a lot of other loads?! lol

thanks

If it's Wednesday evening (you have clinical until 3pm at the latest) or Friday you'll be fine. Tests are always on Mondays for Fundamentals and Med-Surg. Thursday tests will be for Theory or Pharmacology 213A and 213B. There were a couple of students in the first semester with me who took Pharm 200 and then took the 213A class with everyone. I don't know what the advantage of that is because it seems to be all of the same information. If you don't take Pharm 200 you HAVE to take 213A and 213B. If you take Pharm 200, then you can audit the 213 classes or take them for a grade. Your choice.
