So much for putting off cleaning the house...

Hi All- This is long, but you might get a chuckle or have some pity on poor old me...

There's a current post about finding time to clean during Nursing School - lots of good suggestions. I was doing pretty good keeping up with everything - but had to spend the last 2 weeks in Clinicals. Getting up at 4:30 am everyday and working on care plans late at night - just about killed me. Pretty sure I picked up some awful bug at that place - my energy is totally gone, nauseous, coughing, low grade fever, etc. (just feeling GROSS). Needless to say, not much got done in the way of housework. Tonight on his way out the door to work - my husband mentioned that he found a bug in the flour bag in our pantry and insisted that me and the 2 youngest boys remove everything from the pantry closet and spray the entire thing (it's a huge place with lots of shelves). GRRR, typical MAN - finds a job for me that he conveniently can't help with... :angryfire

We had just removed everything - boxes, jars, cans of food all over the kitchen table and counters and pots, pans, etc. all over the floor and I had just sprayed the entire pantry with some stinky bug killer (all for one bug in the flour - good grief). Oh, it was a beautiful MESS. Our Son in College has just started dating his first ever girlfriend - I told him as soon as I feel better and get the house ship shape, we'd have her over for dinner (I really wanted to make a good impression).

Well, of course he picks tonight of all nights when the kitchen looked like a bomb had just gone off and the rest of the house didn't look much better - to bring her over. I was curled up on the couch feeling like death warmed over and let's just say - I was totally "Mortified" when they walked in. He's a Wonderful Guy - but I wanted to strangle him for putting me in such a spot. I immediately started trying to explain to this girl I've never met before - why my house looked like it did - it was beyond humiliating. Then his best friend who's home from college for the weekend decided to stop by - he's like one of my Sons, but still, I felt like I had to explain why the kitchen looked like it did. My Son kept saying "Mom", don't worry about it, they don't care what the house looks like. Well, I Cared and this certainly was not the first impression I wanted this girl to have of us and our home - I was just imagining what she would tell her parents about our place. If I could have found a rock to crawl under, I sure would have.

I'm putting all 3 boys to work tomorrow to help me clean, clean, clean - since they cause most of the messes - no way it's ever going to look like this again... :uhoh3:

Oh NO! :o You poor thing!

My plans for cleaning this weekend are on hold (again!) I started getting sick yesterday and today all I could do was stay in bed, while my three children made MORE of a mess!

Hope you get your kitchen back in order :)

Invite company over...

I had posted that one day, to have company over to motivate you to clean, and the next day my girlfriend (who loves me mess and all) asked if she could bring a friend of hers over with her for dinner and the annual pumpkin carving night that we do.

Well, it's midterms here...I have 4 kids and a lazy husband, you get the idea -I spent the entire day cleaning (instead of homework like I shoulda). House looks great but now I am behind in my work grrrrr.
