Should I withdraw from a course?

Nursing Students General Students

I am taking gen chem 1, anatomy one, and microbiology. I just got a 102.5/120 on my Gen chem Exam. I have a 17/20, and a 15/20 on my quizzes. I work 11 hours a week. I put in 15+ hours of studying for each class weekly sometimes more. I have 100s on all my labs, and group work. I got two 80s on my micro quizzes, but I feel real good about the test will be stunned if I scored less than 35/40, and I am usually pretty good about predicting my scores.

Been studying two weeks before the exam. I had them each three days in a row. It just feels like what I have been doing isn't good enough. I have no fears I will pass the class, or even that I will get less than a B, but I feel like I need As to be competitive.

I am getting an a high A in A and P, and a High B in gen chem 87%. I just feel like I have done all I can, and its still not enough. I suppose I can ramp it up 5 more hours of studying per week. I will have to wait to find out my Micro score, and I have yet to get any tests in humanities, and my essay has yet to be due.

Its only going to get harder however. I feel like I consistently fall just short of an A, perhaps I need a new mentality.

This is all getting you ready for nursing school. You'll be pushed to the brink a lot in nursing school. Can you try to pull up the B in chem? How are you doing in micro? You'll do more than 45 hours a week of studying and work once you get into nursing school. It's a full time job and then some. You may need to add more study time. Time to set out your priorities, and figure out where you'll be borrowing that time from.

It will have to be my social life, I can't afford to not work at least part time. Ten hours a week should get me by. So yes I can improve my study time from 15 hours a week per class to twenty.

That means I should be able to get to 60+ hours of studying a week, or more if I manage my time right.

I am 87% after the first test, so If I study my but off, I feel like I can get to that 90% range, and as far as micro went...

I will be shocked if I got less than 38/40 on the first exam, honestly I think I may have gotten a 40/40

If I am being honest I put more time into A and P and Micro then gen chem. Time to learn how to better manage my time I suppose.

I guess it really depends on what the program(s) you are applying to require. I certainly didn't have straight A's in my prerequisites, and I was accepted to a competitive program (with a high HESI score). Does your school allow re-takes? Are you going to be able to find the time to do well in all your courses? These are things to consider. If you continuing the course isn't going to prevent you from attaining your desired grades in the other classes, I'd say stick it out, finish your pre-reqs, and apply. If you aren't accepted due to your GPA, re-take the class and reapply.

I am going for multiple schools to give me a better chance. Some allow two retakes some three. I guess I just need to do my best.
