Schools grading scale

So I'm just trying to figure out a way to challenge my schools grading scale. They use a jupiter system and according the schools policy you have to have a cumulative grade of 78 on your exams before they add your out of class works, projects, and other assignments that you work so hard to get done in order to pass the class. Then if u don't get the 78 for ur exams they'll deduct the amount u would've got from your out of class assignments. Now is this fair to anyone? How could I fight this grading policy I'm not sure if this is legal or if this school have the right to grade like this?

I'll criticize your program all right... for having such a low standard.

Agreed. 78 is pretty generous!

My school is the same way OP. We have to get a 77% test average in all of courses except fundamentals before they factor in any coursework grades.

Needing anything above a 75% testing average is pretty high for an undergrad degree in my opinion. I needed an 85% test average to pass one of my courses and it was straight hell for someone with no prior healthcare experience.

Well, at least if you're doing well on your exams all your ‘extra work' comes into play. My program requires a 75 to pass and we have assignments and projects etc. that receive no grade, ever. However, if you don't do the assignment, it is your ticket to class, so you will be sent home and not allowed to attend class. Therefore, we do a lot of work just to be allowed to attend lecture. It's whatever though because it reinforces the content.

Why? Nursing school should hold students to a higher standard. All allied health and nursing programs at my school required an 80% to pass. (80% was a C, 79 was a D) These programs are not like other, non-medical programs. At the end of the day, an english major doesn't have a the life of a human in their hands.

To be honest the key in nursing school is to not do the bare minimum. Like yes, the nursing school can grade however they want to but it's ultimately up to you to reach that expectation. It's ultimately up to you to succeed. Like my senior nursing friends say you gotta thrive not just tread water.

P.S. even though half the time in school you feel like you will be treading just do your best and put in 110% effort into school. You get out what you put in.

By the way this standard right her is legit! This is why nursing school is no joke. If you don't take it seriously your a** is bye bye. You gotta hit the books/powerpoints/podcasts/notes etc. They have to hold nurses to a higher standard because your taking care of patient's lives and not only that it's people's loved ones that are under YOUR care.

My teacher decided to tweak our glass grades in pharm 2 weeks before finals ...and did not warn us or tell us.... so i gotta baby sit all my assignments and screen shot grades. I am sorry but since when is nursing a power tripping realm of education.... I just want lpn school done, I hate it because of her shes ruined it for me...

I do not even trust getting a job...she has lied about so much so why even trust her on that?? LOL I wish you luck but if you do anything else, for god sakes do not work at walmart...I do nursing school and work it part time...on top of the idiocy at my school....

You get what you put in...well if the teacher does not cover their bases and leaves you in the dark, I suppose its the students fault...

I'm guessing someone else probably already said this, but if someone can't get above a 78 cumulative on exams does it even matter...
