Questions to ask at University meeting?

Nursing Students General Students

Published

I'm meeting with the director of the nursing program at my intended school in a couple of weeks, and I am wondering if you all have any suggestions of questions I can/should ask them?

Thanks!

Retention rate? NCLEX pass rate? Faculty-student ratio? Clinical hours? How many apply vs how many are accepted? Acceptance criteria? Waiting list? Nursing specific scholarships or financial aid?

Good luck! :)

is this an information meeting or an interview? i would have different questions depending on the circumstances.

Specializes in CCU.

The above are great. Here are some more:

1. What type of clinical rotation is offered

2. Do they have a Sigma Theta Tao chapter

3. Do they have an active Student Nursing association

4. What type of community outreach opportunities are there

5. Are there externships available

6. What is a typical day/week in the life of a student like

My recomendation is to let your questions reflect well upon you. In other words, make sure that they make you stand out and show that you have been putting alot of thought into your future as a nurse.

Ask to talk to some current students, then maybe you'll get the real scoop.

Thank you for your replies! It is just an information meeting, but I want to make sure that I have all my ducks in a row for application time.

Those are some great questions! Thanks again :)

see, when i went to the info sessions, i had more questions on acceptance, like what manna put down. when i went for the interview, i was interested in student life, so i asked the questions that gracefulrn put down.

great questions all the way around!
