:yeah::yeah: I AM SO EXCITED!!! I took my TEAS test this morning and I passed, so I am officially a nursing student! YAY!!! I can hardly contain my excitement! I know that I have a lot of work cut out for me in the near future, but I am just so very excited about what is to come! I can't wait to finally get in there and start learning! It is just such an amazing feeling to have wanted this for so long, overcome so many obstacles to get here, and FINALLY I made it in!! I am so looking forward to the next part of this journey!

So, who is with me??? Who else is so excited that you are driving everyone around you crazy talking about nursing?? :coollook:

For those that are already in nursing school and have passed this milestone of "first semester," what do you recommend that I study and how should I prepare myself/life for nursing school?

I'm going to be a nurse. . . . YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yeah::heartbeat:redbeathe:yeah:

Specializes in med/surg, telemetry, IV therapy, mgmt.

Congratulations! I'd try to get my hands on a copy of the syllabus for the first semester from another student who is currently in the first semester. That will give you a heads up on what you have coming at you. Other than that I would take the time to explore all the information that is available on the sticky threads of allnurses because there is a lot of it. You won't have the time when you are in the thick of studying for school. There are a lot of things you may want to bookmark or save in a file somewhere. I have a lot of files that just have lists of weblinks. You might want to go on some of the websites just to see what they are like. There are dictionaries and online libraries of information and you never know when you might need to access that information. Stickys are on this and the Nursing Student Assistance Forum.

YAY we're going to be nurses!! i just had my orientation a couple weeks ago and can't stop talking about it. I'm researching everyday what books i need to buy, what should I be doing until then. I know they say relax but I just can't. August is right around the corner. Well anyways, I bought the book how to survive and maybe even love nursing school by kelli dunham. I haven't finished all of it but its pretty good just as a handy tool. It gives some pretty good resource websites too.

Congrats!! :anpom:

Daytonite: Thank you so much!!! I think that on our college website each nursing instructor has a website that has a syllabus listed with what books we should be and everything, so I am going to go and print that up and read it! I absolutely love allnurses.com! Seriously, there is so much wonderful information! Thank you for all of your suggestions!

Craziezchiq: YAY! Oh how exciting you already had your orientation! I cannot wait! Mine is not until August 18, so I still have a while to wait. :( BUT I am just like you.. Talking about it constantly and thinking about it even more! WOOHOO!! I just am so excited that I am finally going into nursing school! That sounds like a good book, I will definently look into it! Thanks!

tfleuter: THANKS!! :)

Congrats Wobbles!!!:yeah:

I'm taking mine on Thursday and hope to be able to say I passed too!

GOOD LUCK!!! You can do it! :)

One piece of advice is to make sure you go into the skills lab and practice, practice, practice. Also, what has really worked for me throughout nursing school is reading the assigned readings. I will be graduating in August, and have managed to stay on the Dean's List by reading. Some people say they never opened their book, but I am a firm believer in getting as much knowledge as I can.

Congrats Wobbles!!!:yeah:
