So excited my orientation is tomorrow, and I feel like a lil kid on Christmas Eve :-)

Tell me about your 1st Nursing Orientation.....

I go this Friday and I am soooo excited and nervous.

Specializes in ED.

It's kind of funny when I think about mine. I sat at a table with a few people I didn't know (didn't really know anyone in the room, aside from one girl that I had had A&P with). Now that girl from A&P is one of my best friends, we live almost three hours apart but call/text frequently, and will be going on a vacation to Mexico next year. Several others are coworkers, good friends, and a few...not so fond of :) The orientation itself is not so memorable now, just basics about what we needed to have squared away before we started school, dress code, that kind of thing. The people that turned from strangers into friends though....awesome.

At my orientation I felt like they were trying to scare the crap out of all of us. Everyone in the room had a look of terror on their face. They just were explaining how difficult it will be and what to expect but it made me wonder if I was making the right choice. Now am half way through my program and so glad I didn't change my mind. Good luck.

I am a recent new grad of an RN BSN program and landed a job on high risk labor and delivery! Nursing school was very hard in the beginning especially fundamentals. Please read your books front to back. I remember my orientation day freshly ironed scrubs long white socks and white leather tennishoes. I told myself the next three years would take forever and now its over?!!??? After two babies through school i am proof that it can be done! When you get to med surge please stop reading front to back lol just narrow in on your professors lectures because they will tell you what you need to know.

Good luck to all starting their journey

My orientation is in June...I am so nervous and excited!
