Hi everyone!

I just wanted to start a forum for all who applied to OHSU's ABSN-MSN/DNP program for 2018-2019. I thought it could be helpful to stay updated with interviews, admission decisions, or sharing stats in order to improve applications the following year.

I applied for the Psych ABSN-DNP Track!

That would be awesome! I almost applied to the CNM program but changed my mind a few months before applying. I'm in Oregon! I've lived here since I was little. Where are you from?

It would! Oh nice. Portland? I'm assuming you like it there? I'd be moving from Norfolk, Virginia.

I live just outside of Portland. The drive to OHSU is about 35-40 minutes without traffic. Wow, that will be a change! I have a lot of family in Hampton and Newport News.

Wow yea that would definitely be a change. If I get in, I'm looking for something within 10 to 20 minutes. Already saved apartments I wanna look at, if I get in. The apartments over there are gorgeous, almost all the ones I saw. Oh yea, nice! I like newport news.

Just had my interview and it was super hard to read í ½í¸©

littlefeets, can you elaborate? What kinds of questions, were the interviewers cold, how many people were there? My interview is on Tuesday and I'm getting more and more nervous.

Med geek, mine was skype but it was five interviewers. A couple were smiley and nodded and warm, and a couple were stern/all business. One asked a bunch of harder hitting follow up questions to others. It was rough haha. I was super prepared and still felt like I was rambling/stumbling

@littlefeets Was it mostly like MMI kind of questions where they are hypothetical clinical situations and you have to say what you would do? Or is it more like personal ones about you?

Aspiring, I don't know what MMI is but they were like lots of situational, past experiences with xyz, what would you do clinical stuff. Nothing personal at all.

@littlefeets MMI is a new interview format where they ask stuff like "An eighteen year-old female arrives in the emergency room with a profound nosebleed. You are the physician (or NP), and you have stopped the bleeding. She is now in a coma from blood loss and will die without a transfusion. A nurse finds a recent signed card from Jehovah's Witnesses Church in the patient's purse refusing blood transfusions under any circumstance. What would you do?" Its like situational stuff like that.

Also I'm sure you did better than you think in your interview! I generally always feel terrible after interviews.

Thanks for letting us know and sharing about the experience! Littlefeets, do you already have your BSN/will you have it by the end of the program? Just curious as I'm applying for the ABSN portion as well so the situational questions may be different in that case.

All of that being said, I'm sure it went well! I have a lot of trouble reading interviews as well. But I feel like they don't interview a huge pool (especially when five people are sitting in!) - so the chances are already high! Congratulations on already making it so far!

mikaylam, I'll have my BSN in May!

Also, it's kind of funny that they say that nursing experience is not necessary because I have a LOT of health care experience but have never worked as a nurse. If I didn't have that experience, I don't know what I would have said for the majority of the interview questions, it was a lot of "tell us about a time..."
