I had orientation yesterday, it was awesome. I got to meet my instructor and she was very nice younger woman, she is a brand new instructor. She seemed so nice and patient, she took our section aside and gave us a pep talk and said she would hold our hands through this lol. I guess i lucked out cause most of the teachers at my school have a tough rep. I'm sure my teacher isn't going to be a walk in the park, but its nice to know that she is not going to be overbearing and unnecessarily hard on us. She said we will help each other out and learn together like one big happy family. I am so ready to get the ball rolling, at orientation i got a homework assignment due Tuesday(9/5) the first day of school. it was cool though instead of having our whole section read all 20 chapters, she assigned each one of us a chapter to study enough to give a 5 minute presentation on it. I got chapter 4 legal aspects of nursing which should not be to bad. I was having serious doubts that i could do this the night before orientation, i don't know why i had been so confident up until then, but after orientation i got the confidence back.

At my school if you are on the PA nurse aide registry you can skip the college lab, i am on the he nurse aide registry but i do not think i am going to skip the lab. I want to make sure my skills are by the book because when you are working you develop habits that are not exactly how the book states it, if that makes any sense. Plus i don't want to miss out an anything.

Ohh yeah of course we got the math test info, gotta pass 10 questions with 90% accuracy.I am so glad that i bought that math book last month and learned how to do dosage calculation because i am not worried about that math at all.

well hope you are all doing well, its going to be a great year. lets make the class of 08, or 09, the classes with the best new grads and most new grads lol

Go, Andy! You are off to a good start! I'm glad to hear you decided to go to the college lab anyway. Don't miss any opportunity. Never know what you might pick up, even if it's from the mouth of an instructor! It's nursing 24/7 for the next couple of years for you! Have fun! Carry on, nurse!

DAYTONITE-- Thank so much, you always have the most helpful websites & info for us students so i will definitely bug you sometime (if you do not mind) for help!

Bug away! Pick my brain! I'll do my best to help you out. I don't know everything, but I sometimes have an idea of where to start looking. I also have a pile of books right at my side for reference. My biggest problem is that I have a dial up (can't get DSL telephone service here) and sometimes pages come up so S-L-O-W-L-Y that I can get chores around the house done while I'm waiting--that is if I don't get dumped offline first! I also have classes myself on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Take care, Andy! I expect to hear of great things from you!

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

I'm really glad to hear that things are off to such a great start :)
