I suggest that you call or email someone in the nursing department to give you the exact specifications on color, style etc. (I usually email whoever my clinical instructor is if I have a question about uniform stuff. They are usually really nice and willing to answer questions.)

Then I suggest getting them before school starts and wearing them a bit to be sure that they fit, are comfy, and that they are broken in by the time you get to clinical.

For me, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my white reeboks and I just bought some Cherokee Rockers that are totally awesome.

I would just reiterate, regardless of whether it just said "nursing shoes" in the packet they sent you, I would wait to buy until you know if there are any other requirements.

I also wanted to say that while I agree with previous poster about danskos, and most people that try them love them, I want to caution that I have known a couple people who never adjusted to them and absolutely hate them, if you're going to fork over big bucks for danskos, I would at least find a local store that carries them and wear them around the store for a good 15 minutes to make sure you can adjust to them (they are a very different shoe from nursemates, Rockers, etc., takes getting used to). And I know some people with wide feet for which Danskos just don't work.

Specializes in OB, lactation.

That in mind, I have to add that zappos.com where I got mine, is awesome about returns - they send the return label with your package in case they don't work. I think they even recommend to buy both sizes if you aren't sure between two and just return the one you don't want (that's what I did b/c I was between the European sizes and wasn't sure... by the way if you do try Dansko's, get the next size UP if you aren't sure).

No one shoe is going to work for ever person, good luck! :)

I love my Cherokee Rockers! They are all white all leather and cover the entire foot! They are light and soooo comfy! I must confess that I have thought about buying an extra pair just to wear around the house when cooking and cleaning b/c my feet/knees/legs/back NEVER hurt when I wear them!

I have just plain white New Balance Running shoes that give me great support and they aren't too expensive - if your school will allow that sort of shoe.

Which one? The 925 or something else?

It does have an "N" on the shoes... I wonder if my nursing school will except it if I argue that the "N" stands for "Nurse"...

Mine are the 605 model, but I have big feet. It does have the "N" on the side but it too is white. I'm sure the 925 would work just as well. I was a hardcore Nike wearer for more than 20 years and these New Balance shoes are now my favorites. Good luck with school.:chuckle
