so i had orientation yesterday for school and they gave us book lists, classes we have to sign up for, shoes we need etc but there was no mention of buying a nclex book.... from reading a bunch of posts it seems like everyone in ns has a book and does questions from the regularly. should i go buy one or wait till the semester starts in the fall and see if they mention anything??? i'd figure the list of 15 books we have to buy the nclex would have been one of them. :uhoh3:

which book do you recommend?

I would buy one anyway - maybe not first semester, but you should have one when you start med-surge classes! Even if they don't specifically say, BUY ONE ANYWAY! It is a great way to study for tests!

I like Saunders Comprehensive because it breaks things down into subject matter and has an awesome CD with it. I also like Lippincott's - it breaks it down by subject as well.

If you are strapped for cash, check out Half.com - I bought a older edition of Lippincott's Review for

I think you'll get the same response from everyone, which is: Buy one anyway!!

I guess maybe they didn't put it on your list because it is not "officially" a book you need for nursing school, but it will be very helpful to you to learn and also how to think about the informations in a different way.

The individual professors will most likely "recommend" you get one at some point.

I got one during my first semester (for my PDA) and use it all the time to go over material. Like the previous post, I also have the Saunder's after reading a million posts on the matter. There is a great thread on this somewhere, just search NCLEX review and you'll get other opinions and options as well.

Good Luck in Nursing school !!

I agree, BUY ONE ANYWAY!!! I didn't buy mine until the second semester, but once I did, I've used it to study ever since!!

i'll sound like everyone else....buy one! :wink2:

i have saunders nclex-pn...it's a great review book. it comes with a cd-rom with lots and lots of questions. the book and cd are great resources for information and for questions with the rationales.

i would definitely purchase an nclex book...

all the best to you in your studies, you're about to begin an unforgettable journey! :nurse:

Not all schools require you to have one. most people just buy one on their own. I like Saunders.
