This is my own personal opinion on study guide books. I study guide book is really only good if it reviews the information your instructor expects you to know. And you can't know that without being in the class. I suggest spending the time studying the information your instructor gives you rather than spending the time studying from a book that doesn't emphasize what your instructor does.

I like the 'incredibly easy series". I think study guides are a great way to expand your knowledge on the subject. Do they have one for micro?
Are you taking mico on campus or through EC? I can't tell you how many times I have referred to my "other" books because the course textbook is so dry. Sometimes reading the same information written by different people really increases your understanding of the material.
I bought Microbiology from Totura(sp) and another book to give me a wider range. Another suggestion is to hit the textbook websites, you will find practice quizzes and lecture outlines that are invaluable for studying.
Good Luck
