I applied! I hope the application went well, but the second question threw me for a loop. I think I came up with something pretty good in the end, though. I hated that there was no minimum or maximum length. I tend to be verbose, and I'm worried that my second essay is too long.

I agree that the second question was tricky. Open-ended questions like that are hard to pick a focused topic. Where do you all go to school?

I go to school in NC. I don't know how many applicants they were expecting this year, but I'm kind of guessing in was 1,000 +/- 200. That's what it seems to have been in recent years. If someone braver than me wants to call, the deadline has passed, so we could find out for sure. =)

I go to a small school in Indiana and our professors wanted us to try applying. We had at least 30 apply... I wish I knew how long they wanted our essays to be. Some people in my class had two pages double spaced and others had three to four single spaced

My guess would probably be around 1200 as well, judging by the past information. I may call sometime next week if I am feeling brave!

I go to large school in Florida. I only know one other girl who applied from my school, but there could be a few others.

My essays were not too long. About 1.5 pages double-spaced and then 4 pages double-spaced

Someone told me that it was almost 2,000 applicants this year. Did anyone else hear this???? I also thought someone in my class said their status already moved to interview :unsure: that makes me nervous because mine hasn't!!! I hope I'm not the only one. Did anyone talk to her?

Yikes! I hope it's not 2,000. I haven't talked to her. Although last night I started getting my ducks in a row for the other summer programs, just in case I don't get this one. Can you double-check with your classmate and see if it really moved to interview status? Mine still just says "open" and "application received".
