LPN school in CT. Experiences and Advice

Hey Everyone,

I'm currently at St. Vincent's College and am 1 point away from passing. I have just my final left and need to prepare for a back up plan if I do fail and get kicked out of the program.

At this point, I need to work and can't apply to be put on RN waiting lists. My professors are stressing " no one will take you if you fail here"! I think my best option is to start an LPN program, be done in 12 months and try and get a job. I enjoy geriatrics so I'm perfectly ok with remain in a nursing home the rest of my career...Then later bridge over to RN when I'm ready.

I would love to hear your advice and experiences from attending any of the LPN programs in southern CT. My options are Lincoln Tech, Shelton. Stone Academy, or Porter and Chester.

All are expensive, and all have terrible reviews online. help. :(

I would just focus on completing your RN you'll be fine. If need be to do an LPN program go to a tech high school program, don't pay $30K for something that won't pay you back in a few year's.

Correction... State programs in CT have pass rates as low as 50%... You get what you pay for.

In the end if you can't pass the NCLEX was that "bargain" really beneficial?

Porter and Chester hands down. Expensive- YES! Worth it? YES..

Most of those reviews are from other programs. The MA and auto body programs bring in the negativity because the attendance is strict- as it should be.

Im from milford and didn't get into st. vincents. I got my RN at monroe college in the bronx NY. There program runs first year you get your lpn and second year your rn. I was a commuter (45min drive) if your dedicated and want to be a nurse then try this school. It's 20,000 a year. I work with my associates-rn at a methadone clinic in Bpt $30 an hour. Im finishing in 2 weeks at western connecticut state university in there rn-bsn program- very easy program been getting straight A's. KEEP TRYING IT'LL BE WORTH IT IN THE END
