Longest week of my LIFE...

Nursing Students General Students

Wow. I just finished my first week in my first semester of really-truly-honesttogoodness nursing school, and all I can say is......*SNORE*

Sorry 'bout that. Must have dozed off. :D

This has felt like the longest week of my life, but its so cool to have already begun developing friendships and good working relationships with the other 29 lunatics that, like me, were crazy enough to WILLINGLY subject ourselves to the unknowns of the next 2 years.

We have our first check off next Wednesday over vital signs and, with my boyfriend's help, have finally found a blood pressure. Hallelujah, praise God! Not quite as stressed now. But anyway...

For yall out there that are in my same boat, I'd love to hear how yall's first week (or first week back) went. Let's all share cuz misery loves company! :roll

Specializes in LTC, ER, ICU,.

although this is 2nd semester for me, the first week is overwhelming the same but you get to expect as much and can organize a little better than the previous semester.

aimee, all other first semester students, and further along students, i do wish you the best for this semester and your remaining journey through school.

I too have week 1 under my belt...whew!! I certainly feel all your pain!! I got a 12 of 12 on my vital sign check off so that is a good thing. I agree with the earlier poster, I was way too nervous, it wasn't that bad at all. The thing that is freaking me out is all the reading. I can only do it for about 2 hours tops and then the ole brain is out of commission for a while. Going to be a loooong 2 years I think! Hang in there everyone, I have been told by one of the nurses at work that the first paycheck as an RN will be worth it!! Let's hope so....:D

Specializes in IMCU.

well same here for me --i just finished my first full week of 1st semester--and wow!! i'm already behind on my studying because the bookstore was out of our books until friday--im on finacial aid so kinda had to buy them there--our first test is this coming thursday and i have to have 10 chapters done and know all of it--good news is i took my first math test already and made a 90--good luck to all of you--we all need it haha :)

Specializes in Psychiatric, hospice.

i'm into my 2nd semester of a 2 yr program, and starting to hand out meds. in 2 days for the 1st time!

vitals seems really easy right now. the class just got signed off last week. we used oranges, hotdogs, and a practice pad to practice giving injections.

i hope everything goes well for all of you ;)

Specializes in PCU, Critical Care, Observation.

Good luck with the meds & injections. We'll be learning that stuff in about 3 weeks. Let us know how it goes!

Aimee, hang in there you will do just fine. Although I started my last semester last week seemed very long because we are doing a LOT of stuff and a LOT of it is boring stuff that seems repetitive because it seems like we already been there, done that with some of the topics. The first week is usually always the longest and hardest for everyone no matter what semester they are in but hang in there you will do fine.
