Hi I'm starting my last semester of nursing school on Tuesday. I'm excited at the thought of being almost finished but nervous about something going wrong.

Anyone else going into their last semester? How are you feeling?

We are almost there

Specializes in Cardiac/Respiratory/PCU.

I have 5 classes left which is a total of 25 weeks left

But my last class is my externship

So I technically have 20 weeks left

I CANNOT WAIT!!

Congrats! I'm in my last year, not my last semester and am so excited and also nervous that something will go wrong, so I can imagine how you are feeling. I feel super happy that I made it this far when we have lost 35 students, but know that I am nowhere in the clear yet. In my school alot of people fail fall semester, so that makes me even more nervous.

Congrats on making it to your last semester, and good luck:)

How was nursing school is it as difficult as everyone says. I know some people have a job or kids but how is it like for someone with no job or kid's

Thank you so much. I went through that same feeling during my last semester (knowing that the summer semester at my school is where most ppl fail a coorifice). I think the reason is bc we had to take PEDS, OB and PYSCH all during the summer semester.

You will be fine and after this semester you to will be saying "I made it to the last semester":loveya:

Nursing school is tough weather you have other responsibilities or not. I would think that someone who isnt working and has no kids would have alot more time to study but you would be surprised at the number of students who fail that dont have responsibilities.

How exciting, good luck to you!!!! I can't wait to get there :yelclap:

You'll be joining the rest of us 2.9 million nurses in the workforce.

That's a lot of nurses, isn't it? The single largest segment of the healthcare system.

There are millions of us, almost three million to be exact.

I like to think about this when I start thinking I am special. I am not saying this because anyone here has said or behaved as though they were special, but I know how hard nursing school is and the toll it takes on us. I also know that I often needed an adjustment in my perspective because of this...it's useful for me to recall that nurses, for all they do (and they do more than anyone), are common.

That said, congratulations on entering the home stretch, God bless and God speed.

I think that could have been the worst congratulations I've ever read...

You should get into the greeting card business. ;)

Truth be told I'm already apart of that 2.9 million bc I've an working LPN for the past 10 years.

And I'm pretty d@#$ proud of it.

Congratulations! My last semester was last year (I graduated in December). It was exciting. But, it was demanding also. Be prepared for hard work. Don't try to coast. There were people talking about being on antianxiety meds in my class due to the stress. Having a good, consistent study plan helped me get through. But, as always, there was too much to learn and too much to do to be perfect. And, there was always that, "I can't breath!" feeling of anxiety that would creep in. I found it helpful to focus on aspects of the job instead of the job as a whole. Then, I could mark things off as I got them done. I also found that my last clinical group was pretty tight. We relied on one another and supported one another in clinical and classroom. It was a good feeling. Just know that you are not alone. All your feelings are perfectly normal and shared by your classmates. At one point I was having chest pains and dizziness. I thought for sure I was losing it. Then, the faculty asked us if we were having panic attacks and dizzy spells, and said it usually struck about this time in the program. Knowing others feel the same way certainly makes all the difference. Again, congratulations and best wishes!!
