Keiser Orlando Nursing Program

Hello,

I'm currently looking into attending Keiser University's AS-RN program in Orlando and have a few questions for any previous or current RN students. I'm currently taking my prereq's at SSC, but wanted to get a head start with applying to Keiser. I've heard that they have a good reputation with the local hospitals which is great. I'm a mother of 2 so some flexibility is a must. I would appreciate the answers to the following questions:

1. What are the pros/cons to attending this school?

2. How flexible are the classes?

3. What is the estimated cost for this program? Do they have scholarship assistance?

4. Are the professors helpful?

5. What hospitals is this school affiliated with as far as clinical sites?

6. Is there a high probability of a Keiser student being hired at one of the major hospitals like Florida Hospital?

7. Are classes available in the evening or is this a day only program?

If someone could help me, I'd really appreciate it. I really need to make an informed decision before proceeding.

Why don't you direct your questions to someone from the school such as an advisor from their nursing program? I believe keiser is extremly expensive and im not too sure on their nclex pass rates. Why not continue your education with SCC. Do they not have a nursing program?

I'm not in the program yet hopefully for this fall. I'm completing my preqs just have 3 more classes I'll be done by July. Keiser is expensive. I work at FL hosp so I get 25% off tuition plus reimbursement from FL hosp. Program is very strict. Days only. They will speak to you about your lifestyle to give realistic info on what is required and expected of you while in the program. Def stop by ask to speak with Darcy she's great.

I would stick with SSC if you feel you can wait. The cost is so much less and the program is very good. I graduated from SSC in 2013. As far as Florida Hospital hiring Keiser students, I believe they do.

Keiser also has a good program you get what you pay for. They have small class sizes and excellent pass rates. The info is online through FL board of nursing its public info. For me I don't want to be in waiting list for a year or so when I can be finishing my ASN by dec 2016 while if I was at SSC I would be on the waiting list or just starting at that time. Keiser is fully accredited. Which is also public info. It's accredited by the same agencies that accredit UCF, Valencia, SSC and ADU

As a Graduate of Keiser University in April 2015 I will be more than happy to answer your questions.

1. Pros are the small class sizes, full accreditation (I have transferred my credits to UCF to begin my RN to BSN or MSN in fall), wayyyy more hands on experience in my opinion and my friends opinions who graduated from SSCs nursing program. The teachers will work with you to make sure you understand EVERYTHING, it feels like a second family and I miss my cohort dearly.

Cons: yes it is a private University but they offer financial aid such as Pell grants, loans, 15% military discount if you or any immediate family was or is in any branch of the military, the will match Florida prepaid scholarship awards each semester, and of course if you work for FL hospital you get tuition reimbursement. So the only con out of this that I can think of is you do not get a financial aid refund at the end of each semester like you do at Seminole state. That kinda sucks.

2. This program is ACCELERATED. It is 15 months long. You have 4 semesters to finish and you will have about 2 classes each semester. I attended school no more than 3 days a week and when clinicals started there was about 1-2 a week to go to. Some class days are short so it's not too bad. I had plenty of class mates who worked at the hospital while going to school and did fine.

3. Estimated cost is about 28K. As I mentioned above they do have numerous scholarships available to help students out.

4. I mentioned this above as well, I LOVED how helpful and understanding my professors were.

5. Keiser is contracted with FL hospital and Orlando health for clinical sites. Predominantly the clinical sites will be at Florida Hospital locations.

6. There is a TREMENDOUS probability that students will get hired at Florida Hospital. Each cohort graduate has had job offers from Florida hospital. Including myself, I was hired at Florida Hospital before I even graduated. =)

7. There are no night classes, it is all during the morning to afternoon. Each semester has different hours but the latest you will be there is 4pm. And that's typically only once a week If that. I felt the class hours to be very convenient to work around.

So yes, this school is amazing. I'm glad I made the decision to go with Keiser instead of waiting to get into Seminole states nursing program. My experience was phenomenal and life changing. I am always recommending Keiser University to any pre nursing student that is looking to get the most out of nursing school.

I'm so happy to see this post ! It is much needed. I have not started the nursing program however I am finishing my pre reqs over the summer and I have had a great experience with Keiser. The NCLEX pass rates have been excellent on the Fl board of nursing quarterly reports. For me the money is worth it. I get my Fl hospital employee discount plus tuition reimbursement. I hope more nursing prospects will check them out!

That's awesome! When are you planning on starting the program? I graduated from the Orlando campus and absolutely loved it there. =) I'd be happy to help you along your journey there when you start if you have any questions!

I am going to take my TEAS Thursday and hopefully get the ball rolling for the fall. My grades are great but the TEAS scares me which is why I've been procrastinating. So hopefully they're not all full for the fall and I can get in. If not then def first thing in the spring but I'm aiming for fall. Thank you so much I really appreciate it! Congratulations on graduating and getting a job straight out!

Wow, I'm glad you liked Keiser RN program. Please tell me, how were the RN Exams? I'm so freaking scared of exams..lol I know several students who attended ADU, formerly Florida Hospital Collage of Health Sciences, and they FAILED exams. Did you have some students NOT making it through the program because of failing exams or poor grades? Please BE HONEST:))

I have a girl in my program who didn't make it through ADUs program. She made it all the way to the end and had a disagreement with lab instructor and ended up leaving the program. The tests are not too bad. Some are harder than others but if you study and stay consistent you will be fine. There's study guides and if not you make your own or go off of lecture PowerPoint a
