my textbook says that the duration of NPH insulin is 12-16 hrs.

the course manual asks this question about NPH insulin (Humulin N) - and gives the answer to be 24 hrs.

sources that I have checked on internet say that Humulin N has a duration of 24 hrs or 26 hrs

Another internet source says that NPH has a duration of 24 hrs.

what is the duration of NPH insulin, and what is the duration of Humulin N and do they differ?

I looked it up in my Davis there are two NPH. NPH regular's duration is 24hrs. NPH insulin (isophane insulin suspension) which is Humilin N is 18-24 hr. I think the reason that they are different is because Humilin N is a suspension. I would ask the instructor to see which duration you need to know because our textbooks also different from the drug books so they tell us which is the one we'll be tested on and which one to use in the real world.
