I thought JC were CHEAPER than UC

I just bought six nursing text books and three note books from the UC bookstore(not all are in) and it only came to $220...six books at the JC I came from would have been more around $600!! I don't get it!

Are you comparing the same books?

I go to an ADN program at a CC in MD and my friend goes to UMD. We use the same books and our prices were basically the same. I mean no where near a $400 difference!

I am also in Maryland and there is a huge difference b/w our university and CC. I took a couple of classes at the CC this summer and the book prices were outrageous. The SAME books at the university were much cheaper. I heard that it was because the CC used the Barnes & Noble bookstore system so it was much more expensive. This semster is the same. My friends at CC are spending around 900 and my books at the university are ~500.

Interesting. I checked our books (from CC) against Amazon and they were about the same price. Our bookstore also never has any used copies....probably because we all hang on to the nursing textbooks :)
