I like my micro class

Nursing Students General Students

Our instructor is a doctor for the CDC and he seems to love talking about syphillis, anthrax and monkey pox.

For some weird reason, I like this class.

The labs sound like they will be fun. We only have about 24 people in our class and it is small.

Our teacher said that our test would be from the notes on the power point slide, so I am memorizing every little detail.

Bevi, I start the nursing program in August. Countdown time.

Nursebucky,

You are so lucky to have such a great professor. I wasn't so lucky with my 1st instructor, but my second one at the University of Charleston -Dr.Meadors- was such a good professor. All of our class last summer were nursing students, so he just taught hospital related micro. He was awesome.

I hear a lot of people like this class and it makes you not want to touch anything though because of what you learn :chuckle

I will be taking this class in Spring 04

That is a nice small class. Ours had over 50 when I took it. Could not get help. I did fine though but alot of people did not.

I am having a hard time in my micro class. I asked the teacher on Monday to help me. I do not know what I am looking for when I look at a slide. All I seen was my purple crystal. She threw it up to me that I did not know what I was looking for. Uh excuse me...no I do not. That is why I am asking for help. There are several of us who are thinking about dropping this class. She talked about the two different kinds of stains and that was all. She told us we needed to finish two chapters by the end of class. The class was an hour long. Of course, I did not get mine finished.

Can someone offer some advice?

Sounds like you don't have a very good instructor. If you're asking for help, then she should have offered you assistance.

I personally wouldn't drop the class right away. Give it some time and just work really hard. If enough people are struggling then perhaps the instructor will start to be a little more helpful. If all else fails, go to the department head and issue a complaint. Don't let some teacher delay your goals!

Good luck!

Hissy, sounds like you may have to teach yourself.

I went over the book and our notes to make it all tie in. I really didn't understand the purple stains at first either. I didn't even grow a colony on the first day, but I went and asked my teacher as my table partners were not much of a help. I can see they are all out for themselves.

Does anyone believe in teamwork anymore!???
